- That's interesting. It could be that the gender bias from previous years was due to a junior/senior bias: When submissions are not anonymous, reviewers tend to favor submissions from more senior/important/famous researchers, at the expense of submissions that are just as good but come from less famous people. And perhaps in astronomy there are much more women in junior positions than in senior positions (and there could be a variety of possible reasons for that...)
In any case, independently of the gender question, it would be interesting to check what happened to the junior/senior acceptance ratios in this Hubble telescope thing.
And if double-blind reviewing makes such a huge difference, then it seems worthwhile to bring it to theoretical CS.5w
