As you surf through YouTube's decorative vegetable carvings, wingsuit flying videos and Hindi lessons, you might start to notice some familiar names and faces. That's because today we're adding a feature that lets you sign up for a new YouTube channel using your existing Google+ profile. You can now use your Google+ profile name and photo on a new YouTube channel, giving you one consistent identity across platforms when uploading videos, sharing, commenting and other public activities.

Any chance of YouTube video comments getting a Google+ style commenting system? It would be nice to be able to edit and delete comments made to a video.

oh wow finally...thats great =)

+Sean S : If they implement something of that sort, there's going to be a huge furore about anti-trust.

How about just letting me tie the one I already have this way instead of a new one. I know I can link to it in my profile and all but I would rather just roll it over.

Now that Google+ exists, we should be able to link/unlink our YouTube channel from our Google account. This is why I have a separate YouTube account that is not linked to my Google account that has my Google+ profile. If I screw up with a YouTube channel, I also screw up my Google+ profile and have to start over with a new Google+ profile.
YouTube (and other Google products) should be independent but connected to a Google account. If I make a mistake with a Google product, I should be able to delete the product and start new without having to create a new Google account.

+YouTube Is it possible to combine an existing YouTube account with an existing Google+ profile, and use the Google+ identity?

+Alok Meshram , how? Google Plus comments system already allows editing and deleting of comments.

I have four videos uploaded to YouTube already. I want to keep the comments and likes they have but I also really want to use my Google+ account! I guess I'll just start over...?

Any news about Google Business Pages? I already have a business YouTube channel so would love to link that to my Google Page. Like other commenters I'd like to link an existing YouTube account to my personal G+ account as well.

+Sean S : What I meant is, if Google forces users to use a Google+ based commenting system on youtube videos, there will be complaints about why it doesn't allow other commenting systems (such as facebook's or OpenID's). I'm pretty sure Google doesn't want to favour facebook by giving people the opportunity to comment on youtube videos through their facebook accounts. So they'll have to restrict people to G+. If they do, they will be favouring their own social network over others, and it will be considered anti-competitive.

Alright. So I switched over. I didn't even realize you guys were going to put the notifications and share from page thing up there. That was awesome. Now I just need to think of a username lol

We should be able to link multiple YouTube accounts to a single Google account. I have two YouTube accounts. One to upload videos for family/friends to see and one for the public.

So if I create a channel.. all the cool stuff I get from having a Google+ seems to go away. ......

This does not appear to work with Google Apps accounts. Can you confirm?

+Alok Meshram , I didn't mean use Google+ or Facebook profiles to comment on videos. What I meant was, give YouTube comments the same features as Google+ comment. Give YouTube users the ability to edit and delete comments.

+Sean S Oh. Whoops, my bad. Yes, you're right of course. That would be an awesome feature. Would correct a lot of spelling and grammar. :D

+Sean S If Google pulled their finger out and made it possible to 'share' YouTube videos the same way we share on Google+, you would only need one YouTube account based on what you said. Unless you wanted a different profile for the public, that is.

+Alok Meshram Do you feel that Google has become more in favour of their own social network recently? I think we will see more of a push to Google+ soon, and things like +Sean S suggested about comments would be very likely (but not certain)
Sean S

+Alok Meshram, it would. lol. Sometimes I've commented on YouTube videos and wished I could go back and correct my grammar or reword what I said.

I didn't figure out how to make a Google+ YouTube until I made two regular YouTube channels. So now I'm stuck with a YouTube channel I don't really want because I can't close this account for 24 hours. Awesome!

I use YouTube as my main TV channel. UI sucks but love it.

+Lee Hopper : I won't say Google has started favouring G+ over others (except probably with the whole "Search Plus Your World" thing, and in which case I would say it is facebook and twitter's own choice). I think what we've been seeing more of is integration of G+. They're not really forcing people to use G+ in order to use Google products.

But if they force people to use G+ to comment on Youtube, that would definitely be an act of favouring their own social network.

I started transitioning all my personal videos to +Google+ since I like thinking that Google+ is for more personal stuff. Downside is I can't create Playlists or add videos to Favorites in +YouTube (Subscriptions and Liking videos still works.)

Needless to say, I'm happy this is happening because I liked making my own playlists on YouTube. Seems like it's not available to Google Apps accounts yet, so I really look forward to this once I get it.

+Nate Cress : Oh, if it's that way, I don't think there would be problems. But if Google forces people to sign up to G+ in order to comment on Youtube...

About Youtube being Google's Social Network : yup, I've always thought about it whenever the "experts" say that Google doesn't "get" social.

+Nate Cress Since you messed around with it already, I'll ask you this. If I don't delete my old YouTube account, can I just unlink it to my gmail/G+ account and create a new G+YouTube account?

+Alok Meshram I wasn't suggesting Google would force people to login to Google+ to comment on a YouTube video. I was thinking more broad than this. That in the future, when people create a Google Account, all Google services may automatically be signed up. Therefore, integration of YouTube and Google+ (YouTube for video hosting, Google+ for sharing and commenting) would not be far fetched. Think of it like this, when people want to comment on a YouTube video at the moment, they have to log into YouTube, which, in reality (now that the new privacy policy has come into place) is a Google Account.

Unless this works with circles, I cannot use it. I share silly videos with my family and meaningful, worthy videos with clients and colleagues. I need a Google+ circles tool in YouTube if I am expected to have a single YouTube account.

I guess I'll be waiting for the announcement on existing YouTube Accounts to link to an existing G+ in that case.

Good thing I read the whole blog post before clicking buttons, word to the wise.

If we create a YouTube channel using our Google+ profile and later want a channel with a username instead of our Google+ profile, would it be possible?
