Danielle Wieck ’17 is spending her #WhittieSummer  studying diabetes and brains in the Schwartz Lab at the University of Washington, exploring the role of insulin in glucose homeostasis.
This summer I am lucky enough to be interning in the Schwartz Lab at the University of Washington, more specifically at the Diabetes and Obesity Center of Excellence. If you put that all together, you get the UW DOCE, a mouth full of an acronym. Although I started my internship about a month ago ...

Follow along as Abigail Kurtzman '18 spends a semester at American University in Washington, D.C.!
Today at four this afternoon, I will be flying to Washington D.C. to begin my semester program at American University. I'm freaking out, as I assume most people who are going abroad or starting college for the first time probably are. I'm not even going to another country!

Whitman is a fantastic liberal arts school with the best professors, small class sizes, a beautiful campus and buildings, and it's in a gorgeous area. As a bonus, Whitman sends many students to top graduate programs in the world in many different fields! My time at Whitman was highlighted by my close relationships with my professors, chances to do scientific research on campus, and the many excellent friendships and connections I made during my time there. I can't recommend Whitman enough as a college to both learn about the world and yourself. Do yourself a favor and seriously consider Whitman as an option for college.
