I bought a garment for my wife on the online store and was extremely disappointed with the garment itself as well as the service afterwards. We live in the US and ordered a corset and stockings. Upon receiving them we noticed immediately that the latex was stained by some of the buckles and buttons leaving a nasty looking brown mark. We tried to cleanse the garment with the items we also purchased from Westward Bound with no success. I contacted them via email that very same day and told them about the problem. They suggested I send the garment back, but I was reluctant to do so as it would cost me more money to return the item and I felt there may be something we could do in the way of a discount on the item or on a future purchase. After a few discussions they then told me that if my wife tried the garment on we could not return it and they offered a discount which was equivalent to what they offered virtually everyone else that orders from their website. In other words, they took this opportunity to wash themselves of any responsibility for the defective garment (because my wife tried it on and wore it for about 3 minutes). I told them about the problem right aways and there is no way I could have possibly notified them any sooner, yet they kept saying that they could not do any more as it could not be proven now if the stain was a result of wearing the item or if it was there before my wife tried it on. I took pictures of the garment emailed them to WB and anyone looking at the pictures could clearly understand that the stains were essentially oxidation from the metal buttons and zippers that could only happen over an extended period of time, not as the result of trying the item on. They declined to comment on the pictures throughout the whole process. I was extremely angry by this as it seems they are completely out of touch with their online shoppers. If you were to go into their store and try an item on you could decide to purchase or not based on its appearance. If you order online apparently you are not allowed to try the garment on as this gives Westward Bound to opportunity to blame the customer for its defects. Very poor service and although they offered me a discount I would not consider using it on a future purchase. While I am happy with the style of the garments the quality control and customer service is horrible. If you plan to purchase online, you had better be prepared to part with your money on an item that may or may not be made with any amount of pride. You could end up stuck with an inferior product with defects and a much lighter wallet. Not a pleasant experience at all! ***Update*** Months after this review was posted a representative of Westward Bound contacted me to resolve this matter. He asked that i resend all emails and pictures for his review. Upon review a full refund was granted and I consider the matter closed. It was not a pleasant experience and the company initially did not take any responsibility for the defective garment nor was there ever any mention of the postage and handling being refunded should the item be returned. So much of what has happened here is wrong and they are trying to cover up their wrongdoings by stating that "naturally" they would have covered the costs, and they would have to see the garment themselves, but had I been offered this assurance in the first place we would have never had an issue. From the get go I was told it could not be returned for a refund because my wife tried it on and also that I would have to pay for the return shipping fees. If I need to I can produce endless emails proving that their most recent comments are simply false and only an effort to save face. I would not purchase from this company again. My dealing with other custom Latex companies in the UK has been far more positive than what I experienced with Westward Bound.

Response from the owner - a year ago
We recall this complaint very well and have kept all related correspondence. A garment was made and sent to Mr Daniel Eros. A question followed from Mr Eros concerning subsequent staining on the latex. Mr Eros stated that the garment had been worn and washed. Our supposition was that the wet metal buttons had been rested on the latex and this caused the stain; the garment being made specifically for the order and did not leave us in this condition, all garments being checked and wrapped in tissue paper to remove immediate contact between metal and latex. Not withstanding this fact, we refunded him in full. We note that his emails on the subject were forceful and contained inappropriate language which could easily have got in the way of finding a solution, we consider that Westward Bound acted more than fairly in the circumstance and this complaint with its update is totally unfounded.

I went to Westward Bound for the first time last week and loved it. I have bought a few pieces of latex clothing from them before, but that was from their online store. The shop itself is more of a lavish showroom, but that’s great because it gives you the opportunity to try out as much or as little as you want. The staff are really friendly, chatty and very helpful when it came to giving advice and selecting pieces to try on. Some of their stuff is a little pricey compared to the likes of Ann Summers but the quality is a lot better. They mainly sell latex, pvc and rubber clothing but also do a nice range of lingerie. Their corsets are just beautiful!!
