It seem inability or unwillingness to accept the inescapable truth that when you govern the "buck" stops with you is alive and well in the EU. The fact the EU was formed out of a treaty which members states does not constitute an escape clause for the economic malaise which has befallen most of the EU.

The Maastricht Treaty, like the U.S. Constitution, is not a suicide pact.
