Just How Much Does Water Restoration Cost?

One of the most immediate concerns after a home or business has been flooded is the cost. Water restoration is an emergency service in which there as an urgency to get started immediately. The sooner the source of the flooding is found and stopped, the less costly it will be. Because the extent of the damages vary greatly, water restoration has a very broad range of costs that depend on several factors. The water damage assessment will cover cost of local material, equipment delivery, debris removal, labor, as well as duration of restoration. One of biggest factors to be determined is the Category of water damage that has been sustained.  If it's clean water, which is a a category one, than a basic drying and dehumidifying approach can be taken. Another consideration will is how much time it takes to prepare the job site for the water restoration process. On average, the cost for a licensed contractor is usual between $5.00 and $10.50 per square foot. This number does vary, but it's a good general estimate. Fortunately, most insurance companies cover water restoration and you will only be responsible for your deductible. In some cases, you are eligible to claim a tax deduction for your premium, but it depends on the amount of damages, your annual income, and the amount of your deductible. In most cases you just pay your deductible, and the water restoration company will just bill your insurance company. If you've suffered any type of water damages, please call Water Damage Restoration Of Austin. Our technicians know how to save you the most amount of money, while getting the job done right. Ask us how you can save $500-$2000 dollars off your water restoration bill by calling us now.

Can you also get the walls dry if they've been soaked by water?

How long does the drying and dehumidification process going to take?
It varies depending on the saturation of the flood damages, but most jobs take between two and four days to get completely dry.
Can your team detect mold or mildew?
Our specialists are trained to identify and contain any mold or mildew growth and we can usually treat it before it spreads, if we are called out quickly. We treat any infestation with a antimicrobial spray that will kill any fungus. This includes mold and mildew.
Do i have to get an estimate from the insurance company before you start?
No. Our services are considered an emergency service, so the restoration process needs to be started immediately to mitigate losses. The insurance companies realize that the faster we are able to get the job started, the less it will cost them. We use the industry standard Xactimate software to estimate damages. Insurance companies recognize and prefer this method of estimating.
Does your water restoration equipment heat up the house?
As a result of the exhaust from the equipment, the house does get warmer. This actually is a huge benefit, as it speeds up the drying process.
How do you know when everything's dry? Our expert technicians have digital meters that can detect even trace amounts of moisture. We test every location on the property, so we know exactly which areas to target with our equipment.
Can my family and I stay in the house while the restoration is going on?
That is a judgement call that is left up to you. There are many variables including the category your damages fall under. If it's a category 2 or 3, it's probably best that you make arrangments while we clean up the mess. Most insurance companies will cover a hotel in cases like this. If the water damages are minimal, and it's "clean water", you may be able to stay in the house. The equipment will have to remain in place and running 24/7 though which may be an inconvenience.
What type of equipment does your company use? We only used the most trusted names names in drying and dehumidifying equipment. Our dryers and dehumidifiers are from Dri-Eaz and Phoenix. We only trust the best names in the business when it comes to your property.
Can you do anything about the odor?
After the water removal phase of the job is done, we use special treatments to neutralize and eliminate odors and cleanse the air of contaminates.

Causes For Burst Water Pipes

The plumbing we have in our homes is something we often take for granted. It’s usually not until something goes wrong that we even notice our water pipes. Water pipes can burst quickly and suddenly, leaving your entire house wet in minutes. In this article, we are going to go over a few common causes for bursting pipes and ways that it can be prevented.

Freezing Temperatures

We’ve touched on this in one of our earlier blogs, but since this is relatively common, we’ll go over it again. Freezing temperatures can cause the water inside a pipe to freeze, thus expanding the pipe beyond it’s normal size. Water pipes are not designed to stretch, so they burst under the pressure of the ice.

The way to prevent water pipes from freezing and bursting is to make sure the pipes stay above 32 degrees. Insulating pipes with a foam cover is one good way to ensure they wont drop below freezing temps. There is also a special tape called heat tape that will keep the pipes warm in the winter months. It’s very easy to use. Simply wrap the tape around the pipe being sure not to leave any spaces. When the temperatures are below freezing, it’s good to open kitchen and bathroom cabinets to let the heat warm up the air around the pipes. The final tip for keeping your pipes from freezing is to make sure there are no leaks or spaces that allow frigid air to enter your home. Check seals around doors and windows to ensure the house is not letting a draft in.

If Pipes Do Break

Even if preventative measures are taken, pipes can still burst. If this happens to you, there are some precautions you want to take. The single most important thing you can do is find the leaking source and turn the water off. Once the water is turned off, the water damage shouldn’t get much worse. Immediately after, you should call a Water Restoration Company to have the damages assessed. The water restoration crew will be able to mitigate loss and get your property back to its pre-loss condition. They work closely with insurance companies and plumbers to get your life back to normal as quickly as possible. In the moments before the water damage specialists arrive, it’s a good idea to move furniture away from the flooded parts of the property. Mopping up any excess water is going to be helpful because it makes it easier for the water restoration company to get the water extracted more quickly. Also, it prevents water from soaking into your walls and baseboards, which will end up saving you from have more work done. These simple tips can literally save thousands of dollars and tons of stress.
