More businesses are starting to grasp the impact that the global water crisis will have on their businesses, especially the financial sector. Recent announcements by both Wells Fargo and Bank of America indicate that banks are starting to take a larger interest in the threats that global water shortages will long have on society and the global economy.

Including water and sanitation in priority sector lending will contribute to a defecation-free India by 2019.

Water and sanitation have emerged as priority areas because there is a tremendous need for credit in the space. Although under Swachh Bharat, incentives are being given to individual households for toilets, private sector participation in financing is vital to supplement government contributions. From Matt Damon: Lead Actor for Water - "Lack of clean water affects about 750 million on the planet. In addition to the obvious health concerns, Damon is of the opinion that we cannot solve poverty without first solving the water problem. He’s no armchair critic either, having seen the water crisis first-hand by meeting with people in a number of different countries affected by the water crisis"... Read more from this story Via Real Leaders.
More people have access to cellphones than to clean water. This is a shocking fact in a world that has the technology and financial means to resolve one of humanity’s most basic problems, but in which we have failed to apply the solutions. Actor Matt Damon started Water.org to promote lasting solutions rather than a …

Glass ceilings aside, millions of women are prohibited from accomplishing little more than survival. Not because of a lack of ambition, or ability, but because of a lack of safe water and adequate sanitation. It is estimated that women and children spend 140 million hours each day collecting water. For these reasons, Water.org looks forward to the day ‪#‎everymom‬ has access to safe water.

In honor of women, mothers, and caregivers around the world, we hope you will share and help make others aware.

Only 140,000,000? It's gotta be more than that. Over a billion people lack basic plumbing. Unless men predominantly collect water (unlikely, given their frequent position as breadwinner), women and children would spend a significant amount of time collecting water.

Uni is unsure of her exact age, she doesn't know what caused her daughter to die, and frankly she doesn't know what the next day holds. However, one thing she can be certain of is that soon, she will have access to safe water at home. [READ] her story: http://water.org/post/waiting-water/   #waterislife

Sumy wants her daughter to have a good life, one unburdened by the water crisis. Safe water & the dignity of a toilet for all, in our lifetime.
Introduction

The water and sanitation problem in the developing world is far too big for charity alone. We are driving the water sector for new solutions, new financing models, greater transparency, and real partnerships to create lasting change. Our vision: the day when everyone in the world can take a safe drink of water.

Co-founded by Matt Damon and Gary White, Water.org is a nonprofit organization that has transformed hundreds of communities in Africa, South Asia, and Central America by providing access to safe water and sanitation.
