#PopePaulVI was a true pastor. Throughout his life, often in very trying circumstances, he dedicated his energies to serving the Lord and his Church in the work of salvation, transforming humanity with the love of Christ and making it new. Today, the Church commemorates the lives of Joachim and Anne, the parents of Mary, and invites us to consider how marriage and family are “ordained to fulfillment in Christ”. Though we know very little about Saints Joachim and Anne and Mary’s life with them as a child, we can see in Mary the fruit of a family who was faithful to God’s plan for them. They reveal the marks of an evangelizing family. #VisibleSign #SeekFirsttheKingdom https://cardinalsblog.adw.org/2018/07/26/throwback-thursday-feast-of-saints-joachim-and-anne-model-for-an-evangelizing-family/

Gaudete et Exsultate, Pope Francis' recent apostolic exhortation is an effort to encourage people to seek holiness in practical ways. Guided by the Holy Spirit, Pope Francis says that we can live holy lives in a particular way by taking to heart the Beatitudes, which are “like a Christian’s identity card” (Id., 63). Echoing Jesus’ words and life, he teaches that we can be holy by being poor in spirit, by being meek and humble, by being clean of heart, by being merciful, by comforting the sorrowful, by working for justice, by sowing peace, and by following the Gospel even when facing challenges. #Holinessis

This summer don’t take a vacation from the Mass and the pursuit of holiness and virtue. The Eucharist, as the pinnacle of the Mass and the source and summit of the Christian life is both the source of our strength and the earthly reality of our heavenly end. It is food for the journey, as well as the closest we can be to heaven on this earth. #SeekFirsttheKingdom #Summer2018

Those of us who have not personally suffered the agony of war have an obligation too to give hope and loving help to our disabled #veterans and their families.
