You have to understand that this is a specialized COMPUTER, not just a pretty Intuos with a screen. Most laptops worth their salt are $800-900 dollars, and more for desktops, which puts this into a little bit more of an understandable range. I agree that they are over-priced (I'll never be able to afford one), but for their intended target audience (art-related businesses), this might be worth the extra capitol. For the rest of us, an Intuos is actually a great solution. They sell for under $300, and last for years. The Cintiqs aren't a necessary solution, they are Porsches in a parking lot that also includes Hondas and Nissans. I love my Nissan (Intuos Pro), and I'll have it for years to come, and the best part is that my art has no idea, it still is a product of my mind.
