I feel badly for these ladies and certainly understand what a terrible experience this must be for them  However,  I have traveled with Viking many times and have found them to be thoughtful, responsive and helpful.  Also, they always offer trip insurance to cover just these kinds of situations.  They also include in their literature warnings regarding individuals who have medical issues.  I am + 75 years old and would not think for taking such a trip without insurance (be it with Viking or another vendor).

If Viking didn't stand by their insurance coverage then they deserve to be criticized.  But if warnings/insurance were offered and declined it seems unfair to the company.

Without the protection provided by Blaye Citadel, Bordeaux could have a very different history.

“It’s the combination of exceptional onboard comfort with immediate access to inland cities that makes river cruising so appealing.”

Discover the joys of traveling with Viking from +Bon Appétit Magazine.
Bigger isn’t always better—especially when it comes to the cruise life. We went sailing down the Danube in search of stunning views and the ultimate week of R&R. (Spoiler: We found both.)

We had a wonderful experience on our second Viking River Cruise in October. We traveled the Rhine River from Amsterdam to Basel, on the Long Ship Kara. My sister in law and my Husband's cousin joined us on this second experience cruising with Viking.
Everything was perfect in this cruise, from the gorgeous Long Ship Kara to the small details of the included shore excursions. We enjoyed splendid meals and attentive service at every meal. The Crew and Ships staff were gracious and always willing to go out of their way to meet our every need.
We are already planning another Viking Cruise in the not too distant future.

Exploring the world in comfort.
Introduction

Viking Rivers offers great value with all-inclusive pricing that includes accommodations in an outside stateroom, port charges, onboard internet/wi-fi, wine, beer and soft drinks with onboard lunches and dinners, Captain’s Dinner and Welcome Cocktails, signature Culture Curriculum program and exciting shore excursions in every port, as well as hotel accommodations during city portions of cruisetour itineraries.

With Viking Rivers, you travel your own way—choosing to enjoy the guided walks and tours planned for you in each destination, or sightseeing on your own, with time allocated for independent activities. We believe that, quite simply, there is no better way to explore Europe, Russia, China or Egypt.
