Best private university in Malaysia

UTP is now rated 5-Stars by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). Year 2016 has truly been a fantastic year! It gives me a great pleasure to share with you another outstanding achievement.

I am proud to announce that we are now rated 5-Stars by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). This rating has positioned us amongst the world class elite universities like University of Cambridge, Stanford University, University of Oxford, Harvard University and California Institute of Technology (Caltech) that have also been rated as 5-Stars.

QS Stars Rating reflects on the university’s overall qualities as the comprehensive assessment is conducted against over 50 indicators taking into account a number of detailed criteria that are not included in university rankings. The rating awards universities between 1 and 5+ Stars over eight domains. To date, there are 17 universities worldwide rated as 5+ Stars and 57 universities rated as 5-Stars amongst the 26,355 universities in the world.

Apart from being rated as 5-Stars in its overall assessment, we are also 5-Stars in FOUR (4) specific domains of Teaching Quality, Employability of Graduates, Internationalization, and also Infrastructure and Facilities. This is indeed a significant improvement as we were previously rated as 4-Stars in overall rating upon our first submission two years ago. Today, we are the only private University in Malaysia with a 5-Star rating. Other universities include Universiti Malaya, Universiti Putra Malaysia and Universiti Sains Malaysia.

On behalf of the Management, I wish to thank and congratulate each and every one of you for your contribution towards this great achievement. It is hoped that this achievement will keep us going further in our journey Towards Global Prominence.

Congratulations to all of you!

Thank you.

Best universities in Malaysia

7 Malaysia's universities in top 100 in BRICS and emerging economies.

UTP ranked as #1 Private University, #2 overall in Malaysia and #91 in 50 countries in TIMES HIGHER EDUCATION WORLD UNIVERSITY RANKINGS TOP 100 BRICS & EMERGING ECONOMIES.

The congratulatory remark from YBhg Datuk Ir Dr Abdul Rahim Hj Hashim, Vice Chancellor of UTP:-
"Congratulations everyone for another achievement for 2016!
It has been a remarkable year indeed for recognition and accolades. This particular one for top 100 for BRICS and Emerging Economies especially from THE at the end of the year perhaps tops it all.

I wish to thank everyone for their contribution, dedication and commitment for the achievements we have garnered thus far. I am sure with the continued focus, hard work and right mindset we will achieve much more in the future."

According to THE, the ranking uses the same 13 rigorous performance indicators as the THE World University Rankings, examining each university's strengths against all of its core missions - teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook. But the methodology has been carefully recalibrated to better reflect the characteristics and development priorities of universities in developing economies. More weight is given, for example, to a university's industry links and international outlook.
