#ArmyHistory – On this day in 1918, then-Private Henry Johnson, assigned to Company C, 369th Infantry Regiment, 93rd Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a fellow Soldier came under surprise attack at their position on the Western Front in France by a German raiding party consisting of at least 12 soldiers.  Despite intense enemy fire and receiving significant wounds, Johnson mounted a brave retaliation, resulting in several enemy casualties and preventing a fellow Soldier from being taken prisoner.  Johnson exposed himself to grave danger by advancing from his position to engage an enemy soldier in hand-to-hand combat, holding back the enemy force until they retreated.  On June 2, 2015, Sgt. Johnson will posthumously receive the Medal of Honor for his courageous actions during #WorldWarI.

Today is #ArmedForcesDay, honoring all Service members serving in the #USArmy, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Coast Guard.

Armed Forces Day, created August 31, 1949, replaced separate Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force Days and stemmed from the unification of the services under the Department of Defense.

+Elizabeth Lewis I understand where you're coming from. My part of the country (New Mexico) has been dealing with this same problem for decades; however, Obama and his Democrat cronies have deliberately forced us to "host" these illegals and give them benefits, including voting rights. Several of these people have brought diseases with them that we didn't have a problem with before, such as TB. Many of the worst criminals, most from Mexico, are here. My state is almost broke thanks to Obama.

To top things off, there is now the possibility that ISIS plans to smuggle nuclear weapons INTO the United States by way of our unprotected southern border. All this while Obama kisses the butts of our enemies and stabs America in the back.

Hang in there, Elizabeth. We the People will take back our country and our enemies will be destroyed.
