Introduction
Founded in 1910, The University of Southern Mississippi is a comprehensive doctoral and research-driven university. 

Southern Miss has:
  • received the Carnegie Foundation's designation for "highest research activity"; 
  • been named by U.S. News & World Report as one of the 20 "most popular" universities in the nation (2010); and 
  • been honored by the Princeton Review for being a "Green College" (2010).
Southern Miss offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs in five degree-granting colleges – Arts & Letters, Business, Education & Psychology, Health and Science & Technology -- plus one of the nation's most prestigious Honors College.

In all, Southern Miss offers more than 180 degree programs for both undergraduates and graduates.

The Southern Miss football team is also ranked in the BCS standings.
