Apprentices from MBDA, a leading European defence company based in Stevenage, are celebrating after achieving First Class Honours degrees from the University of Hertfordshire.

Jade Anderson, Matt Gilbert, Ella Key, Joseph Kleanthous, Tanika Stewart and Abbie Yeates have all been part of the apprenticeship degree programme at Hertfordshire Business School and have spent four years studying for BA(Hons) Business Studies degrees by attending lectures and tutorials at the Hatfield-based University alongside working on-site at MBDA in Stevenage.

Dementia awareness training as a single strategy will not improve dementia care in hospitals or outcomes for patients, according to a new study from the University of Hertfordshire, published in the online journal BMJ Open.

The research, funded by the Alzheimer’s Society, reviewed approaches to make hospital environments more dementia friendly. The report found that it is important for senior team members with specific expertise in dementia care to work closely with hospital staff to support the continued development of skills in this area.

The University of Hertfordshire’s Futsal Club has been recognised by The Hertfordshire FA Community Awards 2017.
The awards recognise and reward grassroots clubs, coaches and volunteers across the county who keep the national game alive.

Winners were selected by a panel of Hertfordshire FA representatives including 1966 World Cup winner Sir Geoff Hurst. The University’s Futsal Club won the Recognition of Outstanding Achievement Award in the 2016/17 Season.

Lecturer, Dr Felipe Romero-Moreno, has recently been acknowledged as one of the external reviewers of the Houses of Parliament research briefing entitled 'Online Information and Fake News'.

The research briefing looks at how social media platforms and Internet search engines have made it easier to produce, distribute and access information and opinions online. These technologies, combined with user behaviour, filter the content that users see.
