Today, March 3, marks the first ever World Wildlife Day. Led by CITES and supported by UN organizations across the globe, the day celebrates the diversity and beauty of wild fauna and flora but also, critically, acts as a reminder of the urgent need to tackle all forms of wildlife crime.
On this important day, UNODC reiterates its call for an end to this senseless crime. Not only is this trade having a devastating impact on ever decreasing numbers of wild animals, but it continues to fund organized criminal networks.
