New collaborative SFI / UCD / Origin Enterprises Plc Strategic Partnership research programme

A number of Ph.D studentships are offered in the field of Crop Optimisation through Sensing, Understanding & Visualisation (CONSUS). The research focuses on the application of precision agriculture to crop production with a particular emphasis on optimisation of agri-food production systems leading to more efficient food production with lower environmental impacts.
Studentships are available in the following broad areas:
Middleware & Internet of Things: The establishment of a middleware infrastructure to support data collection, curation and integration from a diverse range of sources;
Data Analytics: This will involve the design and development of machine learning, data collection and curation, and data mining techniques for crop data and smart argiculture;
Intelligent Systems: Development of intelligent decision tool to assist agronomist decision making;
Includes a stipend of €18,000 per annum and a fee contribution of €5,500 per annum for a 4 year period.

Careers talk Thursday, 21 April: Equifax Dublin IT Research & Development Centre
Equifax Dublin is a new IT Research & Development Centre with the aim to create a new tech hub in Europe. The centre in the South Docks on Sir John Rogerson’s Quay will employ 100 and will focus on creating software and technology to support Equifax operations around the world. The Equifax representatives will talk to UCD Computer Science students about available graduate positions in front end development and technologies and back end development and technologies. This talk would be of interest to anyone who would like to get involved with an international company at an exciting time.

Dell would like to talk to UCD Computer Science students about joining their next generation of great thinkers. They will be giving a presentation about their Jump Start 2017 Graduate Programme. 

The Jump Start Graduate Development Program consists of four professional development modules taken during the first year after joining Dell and includes resources to help participants:
1. Transition to Dell
2. Build relationships
3. Build a professional network
4. Build a career
Each module will provide new graduate hires not only the appropriate tools and training to grow and thrive within Dell, but will also provide opportunities to connect and network with team members and leaders to encourage participants to start mapping their career in Dell.
With Jump Start Development Program new graduate hires will:
 Develop a personal brand.
 Learn how to successfully build a professional relationship with peers and leaders.
 Strengthen networking opportunities.

UCD Writing Centre is located in the refurbished Link Space 2 in the James Joyce Library at UCD. It has a team of experienced writing tutors from different disciplines provide free, one-to-one tuition on all aspects of the writing process. The Writing Centre also offers a range of workshops on different writing-related topics as requested by students who come to the Centre to develop their writing skills.
