In this episode Alan questions why Ubuntu caused a furore by including ZFS whilst Debian did not. See the last paragraph of https://bits.debian.org/2016/05/what-does-it-mean-that-zfs-is-in-debian.html for the reason: "Many people also mixed this with Ubuntu now including ZFS. However, Debian and Ubuntu are not doing the same, Ubuntu is shipping directly pre-built kernel modules, something that is considered to be a GPL violation."

post b/d-day? & me: i'll likely go debian if still using 32-bit netbook (asus 2008, atom cpu), and d610 (non-PAE 32-bit) currently 12.04LTS.

fyi: i use netbook when need portability and long life (i hate phone kbd), hence use scp or nfs to get files to/from it, then my used app is vim. seldom anything beyond those.

fyi: the d610 is not used as laptop, setup on exercise-walker for my reading the.guardian, pdf or man pages, & playing mp3s.

Nice episode. Thanks!

Question. You mentioned that we could ask inquire about snaps. I believe I've heard that once you install a snap, that package will be upgraded as new versions are released. How will that happen? Will updates show up in the Ubuntu Software Store? Will you be able to do something like "apt-get upgrade"? "snap upgrade"? If I run "snap -help", I see no upgrade option. Currently, I see no way to upgrade snaps. Thanks.

Re the command love piece on the disappearing cursor, a fix is:

Create the file

/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/90-cursoron.conf

Put in it the following content

#--makes mouse cursor re-appear
Section "Device"
Identifier "Device0"
Driver "intel"
Option "AccelMethod" "uxa"
Option "SWCursor" "on"
EndSection
#--

The keyword is uxa accekeration method here.

Logout-login

This comes from @just on the Antergos Forum but the problem is with X11 and may only work with on-board Intel graphics.
