Build your own personal assistant w/ Twilio and Google Calendar

Learn how: http://bit.ly/1LwCAHk

"What if I could build a script that keeps tabs on my Google Calendar and whenever it found I’m meant to have a call with someone it would connect me with that person automatically by dialing out to both of us?"

Let's Build: Basic app to make and receive VoiP calls

"In this series of posts I’ll walk you through building BasicPhone in Swift and how you can use the existing Twilio Client for iOS SDK to create integrated voice communication experiences in your own Swift apps. In this first post we’ll start by setting up the basic pieces of any Twilio Client application, get the Swift project set up in XCode and make our first outbound phone call."

15.1 million #robocalls  . Jaws dropping. Everywhere!

“Last year, his service, called +Nomorobo, blocked 15.1 million #robocalls. He uses cloud computing services—primarily Amazon Web Services and +twilio—to block Florida timeshare sellers and fake Microsoft support gurus from the 190,000 #VOIP customers 1 who use his free product.”
Aaron Foss won a $25,000 cash prize from the Federal Trade Commission for figuring out how eliminate all those annoying robocalls that dial into your phone from a world of sleazy marketers. The year was 2013. Using a little telephone hackery, Foss found a way of blocking spammers while still allowing the emergency alert service…

Improving Mental Health Treatment with SMS

This is a pretty neat way to improve lives and utilize new technology. The Berkeley Social Welfare program developed an app that will allow mental health patients to report their moods in real time. That data will hopefully allow the professors in the program to learn more about triggers and how to mitigate some of the issues each patient has with those triggers.

"Using the Twilio docs, and funding from Twilio.org, Aguilera and his colleagues got Healthy SMS up and running fast. “Twilio was the best option available to send and receive text messages. Our developers have had an easy time working with Twilio and integrating it with our system. The support of Twilio.org has also been very helpful for us.”"

*They Might Be Giants to perform at #signalconf *
 bit.ly/1z4yCyQ

Bands are like startups. When you first start out, you’re flying by the seat of your pants into the unknown with nothing but drive, and a plan you hope will work out. Jeff Lawson wrote out the plan for Twilio on the back of a pizza box in 2007. They Might Be Giants founders, John Flansburgh and John Linnell wrote the plan for their band as they went along.

30 years later, they’re still making new music, and new fans. We could not be more excited to have They Might Be Giants playing at Signal.

"There is one thing I’ve noticed on the Twilio blog since I started here. We are always telling you to store your account SID and auth token in environment variables. What we don’t tend to do is spend too much time talking about how best to manage those environment variables."
