I did a port of the first programming project in D language.
Here's the link for those interested:
https://github.com/tetorea/ideal_mooc/tree/master/l1

The syntax is quite close to Java but it's easier to install and I find it more efficient for resource-hungry tasks. ...and I sure hope the project will grow to some very hungry beast by the end of the lesson!!

Philosophy in the 8-Bit Dimension

Its always been well known that video games enhance your brain skills and behavior patterns for the better. Proven improved visual attention and eye-hand coordination are the obvious traits that games can hone in on, but what about other things like expanding your knowledge and perception of the world? No doubt there are plenty of video games that try to target math, memory, and problem solving   skills like Brain Age, Earthpedia, and Lumosity - but what about subjects like Philosophy? In comes "8-Bit Philosophy” to the rescue. It’s not a video game but rather, YouTube videos of 8-bit game sprites and worlds to paint a very understandable picture of some of the more grander and more complex philosophical ideas that are more popular in the world today. Posted below are the links to the 10 episodes, I hope you enjoy them as they combined two of my favorite things - Video Games and Philosophy!

Episode 1: What is Real? (Plato’s Allegory of the Cave)

Episode 2: Does SCIENCE = TRUTH? (Nietzsche’s Critique of Science)

Episode 7: Does Rationality Give Life Meaning? (Kierkegaard)

Episode 8: Is There An End To History? (Hegel and the Philosophy of History)

#teamforming
Anybody interested in doing the programming in D language?

I had planned to do the programming track only, but I'm giving up the course on coursera about "introduction to logic" in order to make room for the cognitive track.
Nevertheless I would be more than happy to find some teammate motivated for the cognitive track!

Hi all,

I'm Torea from French Polynesia.
Although I'm currently working as a "traditional" software engineer, I've worked previously on various neuroscience, robotics and computer vision projects. I even could play with a big humanoid robot for my PhD and a humanoid torso for a short postdoc.

I still play with robotics, vision and AI in my spare time and have enjoyed online courses on theoretical physics and machine learning.

I have always been interested in developmental-AI stuff since the first time I saw Karl Sim's creatures (is it considered D-AI?) so this is a good opportunity to discover this field.
