T-Mobile is the target of another union-related complaint.
There’s been a longstanding brouhaha involving T-Mobile and unions, with groups like the Communications Workers of America trying to help T-Mobile employees to unionize. The latest chapter in this story sees the CWA alleging that T-Mo is using an illegal strategy to diminish employee support for a union. The Communication Workers of America recently complained to the National Labor Relations Board that T-Mobile is trying to prevent the formation ...

Meh. I think T-Mo is safe. That sounds more like improving a company through focused, fair feedback. I wish more companies were like them.

T-Mobile isn't trying to prevent its workers from joining a union, it's providing a better, cheaper option employees will actually get to participate in, and let them decide for themselves whether this is a better option or not. I mean, what good is a union these days anyway? What does a union do that laws don't already? Oooh, get you a longer break? Mobilize when it's time to strike due to pay disputes, often making workers lose more money in that process. And how much are those dues monthly, and for what?

First they give their customers freedom of choice, now it seems they are just following up with employees.

T-Mobile was rated top in the US, but many European carriers outscore all of the four top US networks.
A new report has come out that suggests that T-Mobile has the best network of the big four US carriers. Unfortunately, T-Mo doesn’t rank quite as high in comparison to the other global operators included in the report. Apteligent and research firm STL Partners have put together a report called the Mobile Network Customer Experience Index, which aims to measure the “app experience” for wireless users based on four metrics: Error Rate, Latency Cons...

"based on four metrics: Error Rate, Latency Consistency, Download Speed, and Average Latency".

It is meant to measure "overall experience" but does not even attempt to look at coverage. What a cherry to have picked.

In addition to adding 2.2 million customers, T-Mobile bought some 700MHz licenses, meaning that more Extended Range LTE is coming.
The numbers for Q1 2016 are in, and T-Mobile had itself another solid quarter. T-Mobile reports that it added 2.22 million customers in the first three months of 2016, which is its 12 straight quarter of adding more than 1 million customers and the 6th time in the past 7 quarters that it added more than 2 million. To compare, T-Mobile added 1.82 million customers in Q1 2015. T-Mo attributes that growth to higher prepaid ... [read full article]

T-Mobile is being sued because a customer was sent a bill for the remaining balance on four phones after canceling service.
T-Mobile is now facing a class action lawsuit in Florida. The lawsuit, brought by Moshe Farhi, alleges that T-Mobile is deceiving its subscribers by advertising itself as having no contracts and no hidden fees, while it sends those customers a bill for the remaining balance on their devices when they try to leave T-Mo. The complaint argues that T-Mo is violating the Florida Consumer Collection Practices Act and the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Tr...

+David Sweet It's very clear that if I go to a company to buy a device for which I intend to make payments, and the company says "We don't do service contracts," I'm going to think that if I cancel service with them, I can still pay for the device over time. That's not the case with T-Mobile and that's what this suit is about.

A real equipment installment plan would not require you to keep service as long as you made payments on the equipment, hence, "no service contract," only an equipment or goods contract.

Sure they say "If you cancel service you have to buy off the rest of the device," but no one else builds a service cancellation into an equipment contract and swears up and down they don't have service contracts. That's a straight up lie.

T-Mobile is shady on this one, that's all there is to it. I choose not to deal with them because of it, that's my choice but it's based on facts, not twisted language. They refuse to admit that they do have service contracts (cancel service with us and you have to pay everything now, up front). Service contract.

We're finally getting close to the start of bidding for the 600MHz auction.
It’s been a while since we’ve heard any news regarding the 600MHz spectrum auction, but today the FCC made a big announcement regarding the auction. The FCC said today that it has set an initial spectrum clearing target of 126 MHz, adding that under the band plan associated with the spectrum clearing target 100 MHz (or 10 paired blocks) of licensed spectrum will be offered on a near-nationwide basis. Here’s what FCC Chairman Tom ... [read full ar...

T-Mobile has some concerns about the current state of the video distribution marketplace, and it wants the FCC to take a closer look.
Ever since the launch of Binge On last year, video has been a big deal to T-Mobile, with T-Mo working with video providers to add them as Binge On partners and making Binge On one of its highlight features. Now T-Mobile is showing its interest in video even farther by suggesting video content policies for the FCC to examine. In its letter to the FCC, T-Mobile lays out four policies that it thinks need ... [read full article]
