I spent a weekend camping at a friend's parents' farm in Viola, Wisconsin, thinking more about my personal work than my business.

Perspective control is so important in architectural photography. Should it be done with tilt-shift lenses or in post-processing? Let's find out!

After all, Sony is still a company that makes consumer electronics not professional photo equipment. You just can't separate services from products. #photography

In short, stay away from Mad City Windows. Here is the story. I had 13 windows and 2 doors installed by Mad City Windows in summer 2014, but didn't notice air leaking problems until the winter came. The problem happened to almost all windows and especially the sliding door, which had caused huge amount of condensation and ice forming along the bottom of these windows. At first, I contacted the salesperson, Trevor Bolen, who sold these windows to me, at the end of December 2014. But he didn't respond to my email until I sent him a second email a week later. And he said he would take care of it and may need to order new units for me. However, I never heard from him again ever since. So I contacted their service department. The first service person came and installed some weatherstripping around the corners of all windows (Jan 7th, 2015). He said this problem was common and he had no idea why the manufacturer didn't install them in the factory. So he had to get these weatherstripping from the manufacturer to fix the problem. However, this did not resolve the problem. Ice forming still occurred and even on the weatherstripping he installed. Then I called to schedule another appointment, and they sent their field manager to take a look at the problem. When he came (Jan 19th, 2015), he found that the weatherstripping was not installed correctly by the first service person. So he had to re-install all of them. However, some of them seemed to work, and some were failing. The cold air was still coming through the bottom of the sliding door. I then called him again, and he came back for a second time (Feb 3rd, 2015) to re-install weatherstripping on two of the windows that still had the leaking problem and adjusted the height of the sliding door so that it would make contact with the track on the bottom to provide insulation (a problem he didn't found at the first time). But he told me there might be something missing on the bottom of the sliding door, so he would have the first service person come back, take the door apart, re-examine the issue, and install any missing part, which is scheduled for next week. Based on his lousy service at the first time, I can't say I'm confident that he will solve the problem. Overall, this has been a very frustrating experience with the company. Firstly, their salesperson did not take any responsibility, either he didn't share the same value as that stated on their web site or he didn't care about his and the company's reputations. Secondly, although the installation of these windows was done beautifully and professionally, their service was not. It seemed to me that they have different crews to do installations and service/repair. Thirdly, the product was not made with high quality, or the manufacturer didn't have a high standard of quality control. My utility bill has remained the same or higher on average this winter compared to last winter. Don't expect their windows to save you 30-50% on utilities as claimed (it depends on how bad your old windows are, but don't trust their salesperson's evaluation on your old windows.) I will not recommend Mad City Windows to anyone.
