Site still intermittent: DoS attack or any other problem?
The site will be down for a little while around 8pm PST for a temporary move to our DR site. Downtime should be less than an hour and is to prepare for some new hardware.
We're still working on settling it down, seems there's some issues with the DR site and it's causing some availability problems.
Why the move to DR in the first place - what went wrong with Primary Hosting? Or is it more of a permanent server migration and not a Disaster Recovery Situation ?
Think they have some serious problems. they said all ll be fixed in an hour but almost 24 hours has passed and the site is still unavailable.
The issue looks to be with the older hardware at the DR site, we're hoping to be able to cut over to the new kit in the next day or so.
Can I suggest you update twitter, facebook, your front page, and/or the downtime announcement in the forums? A simple "we know its snookered, and we hope to have more hardware online in the next day or so. Thanks for bearing with us!"
Concur with Richard Betel. A distributed update will also keep users from chasing random problems reflected in dependent software not knowing that TVDB is experiencing problems. Thanks.
