Our Managing Director Stephen Boxall was honoured to judge the finalists of the Young People Of The Year at the YOPEY awards on Saturday.  The YOPEY motto is revealing, recognising and rewarding positive role models.  It was inspiring to meet all of the finalists and a pleasure to be involved.

Possibly because a friend planted the in my head, but in all its extravagance, the decor can come across as slightly too over the top and dare I say it – pretentious. Then again it can be seen as a fun place to dress up and wear hats to as though you’re about to attend the royal wedding or a fancy garden party. After all, who’s to say we should take everything so seriously :) We had the ‘surprise dinner’, before which we hung out at the bar sipping cocktails, hat-less but awestruck nevertheless. Unfortunately, the dinner was a bit of a let down. The service started off at a decent pace but then the intervals grew longer and I found practically everything too rich although one out of the four of us claimed he enjoyed it. Ah well, maybe better luck next time trying afternoon tea.

The whole ambience is great. The decoration and pictures are amazing. lovely cutlery and good service. They had a huge selection of teas, coffees and scones. A live pianist makes it all the more special

Afternoon tea at the ritz is something you have to do just to get off your tick list. The tea and cakes were amazing, however it is a little pricey (but worth the atmosphere), and you have a time limit which can be a little annoying if you are looking to take things at a leisurely pace. I recommend taking the last evening booking as they are little more relaxed about how long you stay. My only gripe is that they wouldnt let us take home what we could not eat on our table and no doubt they would be binning it!!

Our daughters said that I was to be collar and tied but my wife was to wear a hard hat for a surprise outing for our golden wedding anniversary. I'm pleased to say that only the collar and tie were necessary but what a superb surprise it was. O.K. we didn't pay of course but whatever it cost it was surely worth it for the splendour of the occasion if nothing else. Waiters in tails and people pushing prams with a Vasarchi logo don't come buy every day. The local pigeons must be as fat as toads with all those cut off crusts to get through - no need for 'arry the 'awk to do his stuff here like in Trafalgar square. The glass of champagne was drinkable which is more than can be said for most of the bubbles about. The sandwiches both divine and never ending, as were the cakes. The Lapsang Souchong tea was divine and a mile away from Tesco Value which I usually have. Sitting and people watching with a bottle of house white was the perfect end to a perfect afternoon. The Christmas decorations were only put up the previous evening and were quite stupendous. Not the sort of place the likes of me goes to every day of the week but a once in a lifetime event to be savoured for ever.

We came here for our anniversary and didn't really know what to expect. We had the champagne afternoon tea. We were treated very well. Dressing up smart made the experience that little bit more special. Try not to have much breakfast before you go and as for anything after forget it. The choice of teas is amazing as one would expect. The sandwiches are devine and the tea cakes are simply melt in your mouth.

I recently stayed at the Ritz for four nights with my Husband and five year old son. The experience was well above what we expected. As the hotel is located opposite to Green Park underground station beside the green park and a small walking distant from the Buckingham palace, we will definitely come back for more. Excellent location by the way. The Ritz has this luxurious and charming feel to it and to us was we found it difficult to associate with any another hotel and for the first timers like us the experience was well worth it. Ritz offers the best hotel services in the world. Period. Being a young couple we actually never felt out of place, all the staff treated us like royalty, during the whole period of our stay. They are all classy, respectful and a charming bunch of individuals. Excellent, I will definitely recommend.
