After going on a day tour of the hotel for my HND Hospitality Management course with my class. I was pleasantly surprised how awesome the decor was. We also had afternoon tea and I was quite stuffed at the end of the day, extremely full. It was an experience and I would suggest anyone to go. The waiters and waitresses were all very polite and professional when we visited this month and the level of service reminded me of why I chose to study the hospitality industry in the first place. The pianist was excellent and could play any song you asked him to, creating a wonderful atmosphere. The only down side was the issue made about my friends length of dress after we left by one of the managers but the waiters seemed to enjoy it ;) Thumbs up The Ritz :)

I recently visited The Ritz, and from the arrival, to the departure, the experience could only be described as "phenomenal", all the staff were courteous and attentive . The décor was exceptional ,and to a standard that would make other hotels envious . We booked Afternoon Tea, and were extremely satisfied with all of the food, sandwiches , cakes and scones , the waiter service was exceptional ,and was totally faultless. The same service was also experience in the restaurant , the description for the food was "exquisite" , and well presented .In my opinion the Hotels 5 Star rating is well justified , I would have no hesitation in recommending The Ritz.

Now, don't get me wrong. Love a scone, me, but it's all just a wee but posh for a northern laddie like me. Quite unwelcoming about my denim dungarees, got a few odd looks and that. Props go again but only with a really hot girl.

The Ritz is a fine establishment with a long and rich history. We went for Afternoon tea but I can't say it was as good as I thought it would be. I have had better in other London hotels for far less. The scones were dry and not freshly baked. Why not???

Went for dinner and never felt so humiliated by the service anywhere in my life! It was a hot summer's day - proper heatwave, and I was wearing a suit. I had to hurry to get there in time. At dinner I took my jacket off (I had a pretty good formal shirt on underneath) and the waiter came over. I thought I was about to be asked if I cared for a refreshment, cool towel, or have my jacket hung up. Instead I was told off like a little schoolboy to put my jacket back on. I sat through the meal in a pool of sweat, feeling disgusting, angry and demeaned. I asked if they could make it cooler but apparently that wasn't possible either. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER

My wife surprise me with afternoon tea and a show in the west end for my 50th we both thoroughly enjoyed the experience. But that was soon overshadowed by the sequence of events that followed. We was presented with the bill which obviously was just a formality, because it had been paid for in advance so obviously nothing to pay. I played it down because I didn't want my wife to think i was upset and my experience spoilt (but it had) and my wife was none the wiser. So we thanked the staff and left had some pictures taken on the steps of the palm court ironically by the person who failed to do his job correctly when we arrived. Now the sequence of events Confronted opposite the palm court by a waiter demanding payment and I mean he was demanding payment. It's states quite clearly upon arrival present your voucher so we did this and was told by the person who took our pictures the waiter will collect it later and we were shown to our table. So could they have dealt with It better of course they could have the waiters conduct was truly appalling, It was as if he thought we were trying to avoid paying it was truly truly embarrassing and totally unnecessary at no point was there any discretion shown. The following day I phoned to bring the Incident to the attention of the management team. He apologises tells yes your voucher should have been taken upon arrival and he then goes on to say he will look in to It and get back to you so I give him my contact details. And I have heard nothing since. Continuity & protocolled were both lacking on the 4 of february at 7.30pm and I find that very hard to accept giving the fact that we was at the ritz. PS there was nothing elegant about the way we were made to feel. So you get one stars from me because of the lack of staff training and discretion The Ritz London spoil my evening.

Had afternoon tea here last week, £45 each. For that price I was expecting a luxury feed but it was quite disappointing. Don't get me wrong - it was nice enough but I've had better at other places. The cakes were a bit stingy as apart from a small chocolate cake each (which was too rich for us to finish) you only get one of each sweet item. So we had to share a macaron and mille-feuille and when they brought the cake trolley around you have to chose between two cakes as they don't give you a slice each. The tea I chose, Russian Caravan, was very good as were the scones, jam and clotted cream. Sandwiches were average. Another thing that was disappointing is the Palm Parlour isn't a separate room, it's just a big alcove off the main reception area. Ladies room was ridiculously elaborate which I loved. I wouldn't got back to the Ritz for afternoon tea nor would I recommend it. They don't even let you take leftovers home which many other high-end hotels do, Claridges for one. It certainly doesn't feel as special as you would expect it to.

We had the champagne afternoon tea. It is of course a beautiful environment but the tea and service was very average. My wife wanted coffee which was cold and stale and we had to send it back. Complacency has set in.
