The most common argument against taking refugees in the US: that they are potential terrorists.
In reality: entering the US as a refugee is by far the most difficult and complex of all routes in.
If you stand with refugees, join us. Share this post.

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) helps families uprooted by crisis survive and rebuild their lives.
Introduction
Welcome to the official International Rescue Committee (IRC) Google+ page. The IRC responds to humanitarian crises and helps #refugees to survive and rebuild their lives.

Thanks for being part of the IRC community -- and its life-saving work.

Our history

Eighty years ago Albert Einstein had a simple, powerful idea: that concerned citizens could come together as a nonpartisan, nonsectarian force, to fight Nazi fear and oppression and to rescue fellow humans. That’s how the IRC came to be, and today we’re still at work around the world helping people caught in crisis to survive, reclaim their rights, rebuild their lives and restore their communities.

Our leadership

David Miliband is the president and CEO of the International Rescue Committee. Learn more about our staff leadership and Board.

Rescuing lives

At work today in over 40 countries and in 22 U.S. cities, the IRC restores safety, dignity and hope to millions who are uprooted and struggling to endure. The IRC leads the way from harm to home.

When an emergency arises, the IRC arrives on the scene within 72 hours with urgently needed supplies and expertise that protect people caught in the midst of chaos. We commit to stay as long as we are needed, helping survivors to heal, recover and rebuild their communities to be stronger, more stable and more democratic.  In the United States, the IRC has helped hundreds of thousands of refugees thrive in the country that gave them sanctuary and a new beginning.

Using your donations wisely

The IRC is consistently awarded high marks by charity watchdog groups and respected publications for our efficient use of financial support and the effectiveness of our work. Of every $1 the IRC spends, more than 90¢ goes to programs and services that directly benefit refugees and communities affected by war or disaster.

Be a part of our work

Make a gift, attend IRC events, advocate for change, raise money online, work with us as a volunteer or employee, alert your online network about how the IRC helps during a headline-grabbing crisis.
