They were the Panama Unit, a squad of border narcs known for raiding stash houses. Busting smugglers. Confiscating cartel cocaine. And then they got into the drug game themselves.
They were some of the toughest narcs on the border, known for busting smugglers, staging raids, seizing cartel cocaine—and being dirty.

The National Magazine of Texas
Introduction
Texas Monthly is a magazine about Texas politics, food, travel, and culture.

"If our readers have ever finished the daily paper or the six o'clock news and felt there was more than what they were told, then they know why we started Texas Monthly."  —William Broyles, February 1973

"It makes everyone uncomfortable and a little disappointed in humanity to say that civilization follows whiskey, but it's true." —Gregory Curtis, April 1998

"The way to a true Texas dance hall—not the urban simulations, with their cosmetic trusses, last-call footraces, and she's-mine testosterone—is through the country, a long drive by pastures and cornfields and cattle guards, past driveways that look like roads and roads with numbers for names." —John Spong, December 2009
