I'm now offering framing of all of my photography and art prints with a classic black, wooden frame. It includes a signed and number print, acid-free mat, acid-free backing board, and UV plexiglass and will arrive at your door ready-to-hang. I am still working on updating my website, so please contact me if you are interested.

I will also be drastically shrinking the size of all of my Limited Editions to a combined edition of 25. This means no more than 25 of any Limited Edition image will be printed inclusive of all image sizes.

The shot pictured here is from 1999 in my Arkansas Farm series that I've recently been posting.

Through texture and depth “Notre-Dame de Paris” conveys the timelessness and character of the classic Gothic cathedral at the center of Paris. As an artist and photographer I’ve made many trips to Paris, and Notre-Dame is always one of my first stops. I don’t feel like I’m there, like I’ve really arrived, until I re-visit the landmark that took 400 years to build.

In this painting I built up many layers of paint, scrapping and repainting along the way, until I arrived at a deeply textured and colorful surface. Then I used a technique to transfer one of my own photographs of Notre-Dame on top of the painted surface. This method is another contemporary technique to apply real, archival pigment to a painting. On a work like this the photo doesn’t transfer completely. There are holes, gaps, and cracks as it blends with and into the underlying painting. I sanded the photo while it was still on the transfer film in order to enhance that effect. The result is visually arresting and even reminiscent in some ways of an impressionist painting but in a more contemporary style.

“Notre-Dame de Paris” is a 14 x 11 x 0.75 inch canvas that is framed in a glistening golden canvas floater frame and arrives ready to hang. The outside dimensions measure 17.5 x 14.5 x 1.5 inches.

Meet "Music Head", my first t-shirt design and available from Amazon. I've thought about designing t-shirts for several years and, needing something to do with those six hours I've been wasting on sleep per night, finally decided to get up and get started.

I don't like most shirts with words on them. Obviously, I'm in the silent minority based on what's popular now, but I will be focusing on (mostly) graphic-only designs.

This is just the first. Releasing a whole collection would sound cooler, but it's still in my head, on my hard drive, and in atomic states in between.

"Music Head" was created with a combination of a small painting and digital layers in Photoshop. The artwork itself is part of my music series, and it will be on my website soon as a print. There are a couple of other color variations that I may or may not release based on world-wide demand or just whether I get around to it or not.

The shirt(s) will be offered through other online websites soon as well as home decor items like pillows, rugs, shower curtains, etc. The more time I've spent thinking about apparel and decor products (which was part of my plan since I chose "Studios" for my name), the more I've realized that certain art pieces sitting on a shelf, in a journal, or on my computer might be great fits for those things. We will see...

For now, who wants to buy a t-shirt?

Thank you for all of likes, shares, and follows this week! It's been very encouraging as I try to scan these negatives and dust-spot them (with the later being a very tedious process in which I average one photo per night) in preparation for the book later this year. Soon I'll be venturing into my older archives where I'll be surprised as anyone as to what shots I have. After that I'll be going through my childhood negatives where it will really get interesting!

This was my grandparents' farmland behind the barn. The trees in the distance on the right surround an old cemetery were many of my relatives are buried.

For today I had wanted to set the scene with a wide angle shot of the farm, but the particular negatives I had in mind are so dusty they are nearly unusable, even after cleaning them with alcohol. I think the lab I used at the time is responsible because they were not processed in the right chemicals either. I will have to pick one shot and spend hours, spread across many days, trying to salvage a single frame.

So for now I decided to post my most recognizable shot of those that have been made public in the past. This one has been available as a print for many years and hangs in my office. My grandfather got a kick out of me shutting the doors and taking a picture in the dark!
