Remembrance Sunday commemorations are always an opportunity for reflection. Here at The Swan we’re undertaking a project to identify as many signatures on the walls of the Airmen’s Bar as possible. The Swan was a favourite watering hole of UK and US forces during WWII and many of the personnel signed their names on the walls of the bar.

Outstanding facilities in medieval dwelling set in the old wool town of Lavenham. Attentive staff, excellent food, clean bedroom and bathroom facilities, plenty lounging areas, beautiful dining area, plus luxurious new spa facilities.

i would give 5 star for the location (stunning old hall) and 5 star for service. front of house is great but i found the food a little disappointing. we've been a few times but this time (only a small complaint) their chips were awful, worse then oven chips and i would expect a hotel of their standard to at least have nice chips. maybe they should had a off day as last time the food was much better but i just think the food could be improved to something more wowwww

A wonderful small hotel in medieval Lavenham. Great service always with a smile. The spa, restaurant and bar are all first class.

Fantastic location with a warm and welcoming open fire. Friendly staff and good food however portions were rather small.

Absolutely brilliant experience. Lovely ambience, first-class restaurant and service, and gorgeous 15thC guest rooms. Although this was a business stay, I live less than an hour away, and was so impressed I'm bringing my family back for a weekend stay as soon as I am able to do so. Well done to The Swan!!

Great food, lovely rooms and brilliant hospitality. You couldn't ask for more. The pianist at dinner is a lovely touch. If you listen carefully you can hear most of the songs she plays are twist on more modern music. I loved her version of Piano man.

We had an evening meal only. The head wine waiter pounced on us in the bar and before we had even chosen from the menu having a pre dinner drink and informed us the bottles of wine were £35 each and the cheaper one £34. We decided to order a glass each because we had some miles to return to our hotel elsewhere so when we explained this, he gave us the impression we were second class citizens and flounced off telling us we could buy single glasses of wine from the bar. We both chose the salmon starter described as Salmon Croque Monsieur. We expected perhaps something on the lines of smoked salmon garnished with something but when it arrived it could only be described as 4 toasted sandwiches filled with the smallest slice of poached salmon, a layer of creme fraishe between the thinnest bread and toasted on both sides. I suppose the coloured plastic chairs in the room should have given us a clue! Absolutely tasteless! My husband's choice of main course was baked trout. However, the "masterpiece" was my choice of the Healthy Option. The description was green leaves salad, grapes, celery, avacado, and almonds with an additional option of grilled chicken, it sounded wonderful. It was actually a very large bowl of pea shoots, at least half a pound of defrosted peas, tiny pieces of chopped apple, avacado and celery with three slices of chicken best bought from any supermarket on a plastic tray, the grapes and almonds had obviously done a bunk and were nowhere to be seen. It was the worse meal we have had for the £66 it cost. This experience was very unfortunate because we later discovered the head chef was to marry the hotel manager of the Brudenell Hotel in Aldeburgh our next port of call where everything was excellent. What a pity, she could teach him a thing or two!
