"[Shari Frilot, Chief Curator of #NewFrontier at Sundance] has been a true believer in #VR since 2012, not just because of its power as a storytelling tool, but because of how she's seen the medium used towards empowerment." - +The Creators Project
Virtual reality is providing new opportunities for women and people of color, but has huge implications for human identity in the future.

"Everybody wants to let their hair down when they’re partying and having fun, and my music can relate to that." - Big Freedia #NEXTFEST
Big Freedia lets out a teasing chuckle while revisiting how she reminded the world of the real queen of Bounce, a New Orleans-bred musical style know for its frenetic bass beats, call-and-response lyrics, and twerking. “It felt really good once I took my crown back and I’m happy about how things are going in my life and in my career,” she says with a hint of mockery.

"Ellen Page and Allison Janney are reunited nine years after starring in Jason Reitman’s Juno, but the similarities to that hit comedy end there."

"WHITE GIRL intends to make you squirm, but not without purpose." #NEXTFEST
It’s a tall order to merely get past the title of White Girl, Elizabeth Wood’s tenacious directorial debut, without detecting hints of – or being smacked in the face by – the film’s controversy. White Girl. Is it a drug reference? A bold commentary on race and privilege? A reach for provocation?

What’s it like editing at the Directors Lab? We thought we’d turn things over to this year’s Sally Menke Memorial Editing Fellow, Abbi Jutkowitz, and the 2016 Editing Intensive Fellows/teams.
