I took my friend in when he was having a lot of troubke breathing. He has asthma and was having a severe attack. We gave the triage nurse the information, and as he was coughing, and struggling to breathe... we were told we''d have to wait 2 hours. This standard of medical care is unacceptable. We would have been better off calling an ambulance. Bet they would have seen him right away then...

Excellent patient care!! The ICU staff was very attentive and caring. The nursing staff were patient with me while I regained my strength and listened when I got upset. The doctors listened when I described medications I had taken when I had pneumonia before. They were very complete when describing discharge instructions.

Love St. Luke's and UnityPoint - THE BEST physicians and nurses around!

After 2 recent surgeries (one an emergency) and several other procedures, we have had ample opportunity to observe staff on several floors of St. Luke's. My care in all was excellent; staff were caring, constantly asking if there was anything I needed. Even the housekeepers were so caring after an "accident" brought them in to clean up. One of the nurses went to the library on her lunch break and looked up information on a rather rare problem I had and made copies for me. The dietitian worked out a special diet plan for me that involved several complications. The ostomy nurse taught my wife how to care for my ostomy, came back multiple times to be sure we were comfortable with the procedures and gave us her card so we could call after we got home if we had questions. Warm blankets when I was cold, a cot for my wife so she could stay overnight, thorough answers to all of our questions, anticipation of my needs, all were a given. The exchange between departing nurse and the one coming in was really a plus, being sure we understood what was to be going on. The "white board" kept us informed about daily plans. We were so impressed after my first stay that we became hospital volunteers.

St. Luke's Women and Children's Center is very near and dear to my heart. I had both of my kids at St. Luke's. One was born healthy and the other was born fifteen weeks premature and spent over four months in the NICU and several more visits to the Pediatric Unit. St. Luke's provided our son with exceptional care both professionally and personally. His doctors and nurses walked with us every step of the way and always made us a part of his care. We feel very blessed to have had a hospital right in our community that always had our son's best interest at heart. Our little boy would not be where he is today without our God above, expert medical care, love and support from all the staff at St. Luke's. Thank you for all that you have done for our family!

I've had 3 babies at the St. Lukes Birth Care center. They were all there different experiences. My first baby needed to be put into intensive care immediately following her delivery. If I had been anywhere else I would have been separated from her. But since I chose St. Luke's with their on site NICU I was able to just go up the elevator to see her. Then after I was discharged my husband and I were allowed to stay right in her private room. Had we chosen a different hospital this would have been a whole different scenario. My next two stays at St Luke's were complication free, but just as accommodating. Awesome nurses, awesome facility, awesome memories of the births of my children thanks to St. Luke's. My husband and I recommend the birthing center to EVERYONE.
