Hey,
I open sourced my app which I used a year ago to play around with Kotlin and try some stuff, maybe it helps someone or can provide any value.
It is a stopmotion app which creates stop motion gifs our of taken pictures. It uses the camera2 api and is minSdk 21.

I updated my app Stopmotion
Now the Gif creation is even faster, the gif file size even smaller and you can move the gifs on your external storage.
Check it out:

Stopmotion

I made a stop-motion app, where you can create stop-motion gifs.
You can take some pictures and the app will create a stop-motion gif out them.
You have an overview of your gifs and you can view/edit/delete or share them.

Features:
• Create stop-motion gifs
• Choose the amount of images taken
• Share your gifs
• View/Edit/Delete your gifs

Accelerate your deployment time when working with an Android 5.1 device/emulator:

ART is awesome, but the AOT (ahead-of-time) compilation step can be quite long, taking 5, 10 or even more seconds.
Which is usually a waste on time when you're developing.

The good news is now, with Android 5.1,
vmSafeMode which was used with Dalvik to deactive JIT compilation, now actually deactivates the AOT one with ART, so you can fallback to an interpreted mode. [0]

Set this property in your debug builds by adding <application android:vmSafeMode="true"/> inside src/debug/AndroidManifest.xml and the dex2oat step will suddenly be a lot faster. :)

#androidDev , I just published the second article in the series A useful stack on android.

This time I have focused into the user interface of the sample app: MaterialMovies [0] a simple application that fetch a list a movies from a web service, talking about some useful libraries like ButterKnife, Palette, or how to modify the default transitions behaviour.
