The latest census analysis by ONS looks into the occupancy ratings of different household types in England and Wales. The 2011 Census was the first census that collected occupancy ratings for bedrooms. An occupancy rating shows whether a household is overcrowded or under-occupied.

As the first marriage of same sex couples take place this weekend, what do ONS data tell us about sexual identity in the UK?

In 2012, ONS asked around 180,000 UK adults about their self perceived sexual identity as part of the Integrated Household Survey. By ‘sexual identity’ we mean how people see themselves at the time the interview takes place. This does not necessarily match their sexual behaviour or attraction, and can change over time.

Male life expectancy at birth was highest in East Dorset (82.9 years) and lowest in Glasgow City (72.6 years).

For females, life expectancy at birth was highest in Purbeck (86.6 years) and lowest in Glasgow City (78.5 years).
