The Pentagon has identified the U.S. Army soldier killed on Thursday in eastern Afghanistan as Sgt. 1st Class Christopher Andrew Celiz, 32. He was the second U.S. servicemember killed in the country this week.

Indian River County resident Scott Lahodik was just doing his job — diving for golf balls — when a 10-foot alligator latched onto his arm Friday.

Miraculously, the 51-year-old Marine Corps veteran survived the alligator's "death roll," his wife said Monday from his bedside at Lee Memorial Hospital.
