"Our flight school saw over a 1000% increase in the number of clients coming here to prepare for and take their ATP practical exam when compared to a typical year prior to the rule change." http://studentpilotnews.com/2016/08/22/the-last-of-the-old-written-atps/
Back in July of 2013, the FAA implemented a new set of rules for the multiengine ATP. July, 2014, was the last month to take the old FAA knowledge test without having to take the then new ATP-CTP course. Prior to 2014, there were typically 6-8000 ATP written tests given each year. The first half

Good review here for student pilots - there is more than just the windsock... http://studentpilotnews.com/2016/08/03/video-tip-determine-wind-direction-takeoff-landing/
When departing or approaching an airport, it's important that you choose a runway that allows you to takeoff or land into the wind. This week's tip looks at someone common wind direction indicators found on the ground at many airports, along with how to use the radio to tune into automated weather reporting systems.

Overheating iPad? Here's the answer you've been waiting for. http://ipadpilotnews.com/2016/07/finally-ipad-mount-built-fans/
There is finally a good option for pilots worried about overheating iPads, with the release of the X-Naut Active Cooling Mount. This cradle has a vented case and built-in cooling fans that direct airflow over the back of the iPad, aimed at the areas of the tablet that run the hottest. It may sound like overkill, but we've flown with it and the X-Naut really works.

One of our employees just passed his checkride, and he hit his flight training budget within $50. Here's how he did it. http://studentpilotnews.com/2016/06/27/hit-flight-training-budget-within-50/
Following the checkride, I totaled all the money I spent on training to discover it was $50 less than what the flight school manager had estimated at the beginning. When pilots talk about hitting the numbers, it usually refers to spot landings, but this was equally impressive.

Our latest quiz is up! How much do you know about taxiing in light airplanes? http://studentpilotnews.com/2016/08/19/quiz-test-taxi-techniques/
Moving an aircraft on the ground is a vital phase of every flight, but airplanes don’t drive like a car. Certain care must be taken while operating around the airport. Can you answer all these taxi questions correctly? Want to learn more about avoiding wake turbulence? Check out Sporty’s Learn To Fly Course for more in depth training
