Virtual Classroom Prepares SIUE Students for Real-Life Instruction
With the help of a virtual classroom, the SIUE School of Education program is able to practice new teaching strategies on simulated students.

Scientific SIUE Weight Management Program Changes Lives
 The SIUE Weight Management Program began in 2009 and has had great success in helping individuals to lose weight and keep it off. The program covers all aspects of successful weight reduction and weight management, including nutrition, physical activity, and the emotional and cognitive aspects of behavior change. The total cost of the program is $400, which includes two months of pre-packaged meals and meal replacement shakes from Healthy Management Resources (HMR). It also covers exercise recommendations, pedometer, blood pressure analysis, weekly educational classes and body composition analysis with DXA technology. Learn more

Eugene B. Redmond Poetically Honors Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at SIUE’s Awards Luncheon Celebration
In honor of the 32nd Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Award Celebration, SIUE students, faculty, staff and community members gathered for a luncheon to honor Dr. King's Legacy. SIUE recognized six recipients for their actions, talents and achievements, which exemplified the principles and ideals of King.The celebration continued with poetry performances from keynote speaker,  Dr. Eugene B. Redmond, his daughter, Treasure Shields Redmond, and Kenny Coleman. The day concluded with a performance by the SIUE Gospel Choir.
SIUE Introduces Bachelor’s in Integrative Studies
Beginning in fall 2015, SIUE students will have the option to earn a degree in Integrative Studies. The Illinois Board of Higher Education approved the program earlier this month. This degree allows students to combine diverse academic interests into one degree. “The program offers students an avenue for embracing their individuality by designing a unique bachelor’s degree that will help them achieve both personal and career goals,” said Parviz Ansari, provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs. Join us in wishing SIUE alum, Drew Talbot, good luck as he competes in the season finale of Face Off! The SyFy reality show challenges make-up artists to design film-ready prostheses during each week's themed episodes. Drew has already been selected as the show's fan favorite during the tweet-off competition and will continue to compete for the title tomorrow at 8:00 pm.
