Good morning to you all lovely peeps!
We're just back from a road trip in Puglia and Basilicata! More about it soon on our website http://slowitaly.yourguidetoitaly.com.
But, in the mean-time we wanted to share our NEW Youtube channel https://bit.ly/2OWPBnF and first EVER video with you! The video we made is about one of the longest and fastest ziplines in the world, and, guess what, it's in Basilicata, more precisely connecting the two villages of Castelmezzano and Pietrapertosa. The video starts with a few photos of the hike to the starting point of the zipline and then you'll see a footage of the full flight (recorded by my son Nico, he's the one in the first pic too), almost as if you did it yourself. ;-)
Remember to subscribe to our channel https://bit.ly/2OWPBnF if you want to be among the first to know as soon as we publish a new video.

I recently had the honor to meet and interview Armando Marinelli, whose family founded the world's oldest continuously family-owned manufacturing company about 1,000 years ago!. Truly an inspiring family and business story!
…closely related to the history of a city, a people and a region. #agnone #molise #italia #italy #bells #bellfoundry #bronzecasting #tradition #ancientcrafts

Today is Santa Lucia's day. While the modern day celebration of Santa Lucia (Saint Lucy’s Day) on December 13 is generally associated with Sweden and Norway, it is also observed in some parts of Italy, where it is actually a very ancient tradition dating back to 1337.

The history of the Sacred Grove of Bomarzo, more commonly known as the Park of the Monsters, starts like a romantic and melancholic tale that could have been the inspiration for the 1740 novel Beauty and the Beast, originally written by Gabrielle-Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve .

Once upon a time, an Italian Renaissance prince, passionately in love with his wife, decided to have a marvelous garden built in her honor. Read more:

The Dying Beauty of 19th c. Italian Cemetery Art
The first week of November is traditionally the time of year when people honor the dead while visiting the graves of deceased relatives in Italy and other countries around the world.

I'd like to grasp the opportunity to highlight the beauty of cemeteries, more specifically of 19th century Italian cemetery art, as well as the graves of the forgotten, which are never flowered, nor honored.

In some instances, these are impressive monuments and sculptures of great artistic value that are left to crumble or that are in need of urgent restoration, as there is often lack of public funding to maintain these funerary sculptures. Often, their very existence depends on the visits of good-hearted souls who maintain these graves anonymously or pay an entrance fee that will help restore these true art collections for future generations.

So, if you are in Italy, why not visit one of these amazing cemeteries and "adopt a grave" ?
