+Ade Oshineye is collecting starting points on the social web. Having many of the starting points in one place allows you see just how poor some are. In particular Facebook and Identica. Twitter and Instagram's starting points were pretty good. Though for some weird reason Twitter's starting point reminds me of a beer commercial.

Bearing in mind this is a prospective users first interaction with a social web service I am surprised social web services do not put more effort into the starting point page. The includes Google Plus whose starting point is more than adequate but could do better.
