The Selecter formed in 1979 alongside bands like The Specials and Madness and spearheaded the 2 Tone Movement. The band is fronted by lead vocalist Pauline Black and the band enjoyed great chart success with hit single “The Selecter” which was a flip side to the 2 Tone single with The Specials track “Gangsters”.
Classic tracks “On The Radio”, “Three Minute Hero” and “Missing Words” followed as well as the much acclaimed debut LP “Too Much Pressure” which all appeared on the classic 2 Tone label.
In the summer of 1980 the band parted company with 2 Tone and signed to Chrysalis Records and released some singles as well as the second studio LP “Celebrate The Bullet” in 1981.1982 saw the band split as Pauline Black pursued her other interests of Theatre and the TV world, but in 1991 the band reformed with live shows and in 1992 they collaborated with the legendary Prince Buster on his single “Madness”.
Further studio albums have followed and here for your pleasure is a live show recorded at the world famous London Camden Dingwalls on 24th February 2002.

With their gritty, bluesy sound and Eric Burdon’s deep, powerful voice, The Animals took the world by storm when they released their epic transatlantic No. 1 hit, ‘The House Of The Rising sun’.
As a consequence they spent most of their time on the road which meant there was little time for recording, and only released three albums during their heyday. After the first incarnation of the band split up in the mid-60s, followed by several line-up changes and solo projects, the band re-united to record the 1977 aptly named album ‘Before We Were So Rudely Interrupted’( http://bit.ly/1yVdiRb )
This album stems from the second and last reunion effort from the five original Animals from the group's first incarnation: Eric Burdon (vocals), Alan Price (keys), Hilton Valentine (guitar), Chas Chandler (bass) and John Steel (drums). Ark was released in 1983 on Castle Records and was followed by a concert tour resulting in the live album ‘Greatest Hits Live’.
With vocals as powerful and vicious as ever, strong backing vocals and even stronger melodies, this album brings you all the rawness you would expect from the Animals while at the same time presenting a more mature, artfully produced sound.
Enjoy ‘Ark’ as a loud and raw look at the end of the golden era of British R’n’B!
