Chrome 52 hit the stable channel and with it the second phase of the core ui update deployment, macOS. https://dribbble.com/shots/2852611-Chrome-macOS

Along with it comes the security indicators update as well, created by Max Walker (https://twitter.com/maxwkr). A nice update over the previous squared icons and chip and also a path toward better security communication. It also marks the end of the "page" icon for non-https sites, replace by an "info" icon.

The chromium team is changing the animation for pinned tabs to a static image (blue dot) in the latest Chrome Dev update as the animation was too subtle and used to consume too many CPUs on some devices.

Finally available to more users :)

The Play Store and Android Apps just started rolling out on the Dev channel for the Asus Flip Chromebook and I'm loving it so far. More devices will follow very soon. Yeah!

Check out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDy1WWUdlY8 and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLYzX0G0YKQ to learn more about how the chromium team brought the Play Store to Chrome OS so that you can run Android Apps on your Chromebook.

For info, here's the non-exhaustive list of Chromebooks, Chromeboxes, and Chromebases that will be able to install Android apps: https://support.google.com/chromebook/answer/6401474

Sketch 39 introduces grouped layer behavior and resize constraints and this is more than welcome. https://www.sketchapp.com/support/updates/sketch-39/

I answered a few new questions on my Wiselike profile, including some thoughts about what I wish I new when I started design or things I wish I did differently in my career.

Today marks the Chromebook 5th anniversary.
I've been part of the Chrome OS team for 4 years now.

I joined during the prototyping phase of the first Chromebook Pixel (not that I have anything to do with it). Watching the hardware team iterate to finalize the design was really nice. Fun fact there was test versions of the body in electric blue, light grey and even pink and black.

I've always been impressed by our hardware team and the fact that all Chromebooks, regardless of the price point, lives up to the high standard they defined. A Chromebook can be really cheap, but never of low-quality.

So, to even more years of beautiful hardware :)

Indeed the hardware (with the exception of my Acer 710 (720) has indeed been excellent. Esp. the HP 11 by Google. Great job!

The Hololens is impressive despite my initial doubts. Still cumbersome but at least I didn't hit a wall. Exciting things ahead once we human size these headset devices, both VR and AR.

Things are shaping up nicely on The Chrome OSX Canary side with new Omnibox security icons and certification layout, new tab button polish and new bookmark folder/bookmark bar.

Although the following have been added for a while I really like the omnibox dropdown revamp and the sweet look that the subltle background blur on the frame gives to the tabstrip :)

Can't wait for the new design to make its way to the stable channel.

This is actually available in Chrome stable on OS X, under, I believe, this flag: chrome://flags/#top-chrome-md — and it's looking excellent, although it's not quite as polished as it is in Canary yet.
