In this episode 3 of AVVE TV: Influential Women Season 1, Ollie Salsabeela and Dea Surjadi talk about the challenges and benefits of women in technology and computer science and also how to encourage women into the field. Indonesia already has a higher percentage of women working in the IT industry than the USA, which surprised Dick Costolo, CEO of Twitter, when he visited the country not too long ago. Ollie gave him some insights during their chat why this is the case.
We see the @girlsintechid (Twitter) has been one of the driving forces for this phenomenon. Ollie, our guest, has also been speaking and writing books, such as "Girls & Tech" to encourage young girls to pursue a career in IT in the country.
Dea, founder of http://kolibrii.com
, shares how the real challenge is for women to prove to themselves that they are just as good as everyone else because when you're just good then there's no reason for any kind of discrimination. (She has a point ;)
