It feels like facing a storm of disapproval, sometimes, but writing is worth doing.
Yesterday I talked about my take on writing from my somewhat warped view of God’s calling on Christians: I had the idea that since writing was so much fun I should give it up. I realize that many of you blog readers aren’t Christians. But I wrote that post because I think

Press on, press on, press on. It's a quality of life issue. Quitting may feel safe, but is that really how you want to live?

My husband, an Alaskan Native man, got to celebrate Christmas twice every year. He celebrated on December 25th with the rest of the country, and again on January 7th. Russian Christmas. He was Russian Orthodox and in his church they used the Old Julian Calendar. So they started celebrating the

Is art that doesn't cost us, worthwhile?
I guess one point we can take from my last post is that just because something is hard doesn’t mean it’s not what we’re supposed to do. Sometimes things are hard and we’re supposed to struggle through. Sometimes we’re supposed to keep our eyes on the goal and keep

The happiest writers love to work the soil of the story world, and they trust God to send the rain and bring the increase.
It’s a lot like farming, this writing business. Farmers don’t get paid until long after they’ve planted the seed. They clear the field, they till the soil. No one pays them for that. They plant the seed. They water it. They cover the small plant when a late frost comes.

This made me laugh. I'm glad my review made you happy. I was just being honest. I don't know you (obviously, since you don't know how to pronounce my name) and I had no reason to lie. Your course is a great course.

Several months back, a query popped into my email folder on a Saturday morning. It was from a ghostwriter who had obviously never clicked on my “submissions” tab up there in my menu. He sent a query letter telling me about the wonderful author he was working for and the
