I have an excellent explanation as to why Marty Mcfly's future is not the same as the future that you and I perceive today.   It has to do with the calibration of the DeLoreans.  Although I could not drive, I once owned a DeLorean.  Why?  Because Marty McFly that's why.  Anyways, when attending DeLorean Owner Association meetings I would come to learn that Jon DeLorean, the Steve Jobs of his time (albeit with a tragic flaw), had a penchant for sticking it to the authorities and one of the things that he loathed was the speed limit.  He decided to calibrate his mileage system with an algorithm that the speedometer was proportional to an accelerated speed such at travelling 10 miles an hour really gave you a speed of 10.5 miles and going at 55 miles was really 65 and 65 was akin to doing 80.  As my favourite saying goes, "It seemed like a good idea at the time."

How did Jon Delorean think cops were going to react every time a DeLorean driver was found speeding and the drivers insisting that they were going 55 and the cop was wrong.  Simple, if enough Delorean owners complained judges (some of whom it was presumed would be DeLorean owners themselves) would insist that the police must be indiscriminate against DeLoreans and therefore dismiss case after case till the police would just stop bothering to ticket a speeding DeLorean.  Again seemed like a good idea at the time I guess.

So what does this have to do with the fact that we do not have flying cars, hoverboards, outdoor3D VR, digital newspapers in flex-glass and other BTTF predictions yet?  Simple, because of the extra acceleration Doc and Marty accelerated into a future parallel universe and so what we are seeing is not tech from the 2015 but an accelerated future with an unknown date, but because we were inaccurate in our calculation of this view that future collapsed on itself and the parallel universe was cut off from us but it will exist in that parallel universe called the Spielberg-Zemeckis continuum.  Its too bad because in that future, the need for mobile devices did not exist anymore.  We simply sent thoughts to one another and then confirmed them by fax.  So much better, less use of emoticons.  If someone was ignoring our thoughts well then we could go to an ATT digital phone booth and crazy call them, but at last it is not meant to be.

You're welcome world, for the explanation now be thankful that unlike that parallel universe's future, we won't have to worry about too many faxes or parallel ports for that matter.
