Good Luck for the coming breeding season little blues!
First eggs!!
On Tuesday 31 July our little penguins laid the first egg of the season. This early pair was very busy last season and had raised four chicks. Theirs were some of the very last ones that fledged from Pilots Beach at the end of March and they did not need supplementary feeding. This pair has now moulted and fuelled up for a couple of months and are obviously thinking conditions are good enough to start the next round. Good luck to them!

The Albatross Chicks at Taiaroa Head are practicing their flying. Its August the chicks are around 6 months old and weighing on average above 9kgs. these birds will leave the albatross colony in September for a 5 year journey around the southern oceans before returning to the colony here in Dunedin.
Be sure to come visit the Royal Albatross Centre for a tour before these fluffy chicks are gone and our new season birds arrive back.
