What does the Theme from Harry Potter and Saint-Saëns’ Carnival of the Animals have in common? They are both pieces of music enjoyed by young children the world over!

Every year, the Richmond Orchestra takes a small ensemble into Richmond elementary schools and performs these two wonderful pieces for the students. The teachers are provided with materials to introduce the music beforehand and are encouraged to integrate the themes from the Carnival of Animals into the general curriculum. Because the performance takes place in the school, the children have the opportunity to get a close up view of the players and see just how the various instruments are played.

Our goal for our 2016-2017 season is to perform Carnival of Animals at six elementary schools in the Richmond School District. This program depends on the generous support of our donors and sponsors. If you are a supporter of music for children and want to see this program continue in our Richmond Schools, we invite you to consider making a donation to this outreach program: http://www.roca.ca/donate/

People In Montreal Are Playing On Light-Filled Seesaws

"The installation and its streamlined design...delight children and adults as they play with the sounds and lighting effects it produces, filling the Place des Festivals with a dance of sounds and lights, bringing joy and warmth to the winter’s cold, short days and dark nights." #music, #art, #howartworks
