"The world is complicated, and it’s increasingly being explained in video clips" says +Eric Blattberg of Digiday. That's why many publishers are turning to Explainer Videos as an important element in their #videomarketing . He gives some good tips in this article, and reminds us that, "High-quality explainer videos don’t tend to cost much. They don’t require a big crew and tons of production resources, just a good script, a winsome host and some editing chops."

As my little one (7 yrs old) begins a new school term, I found this article thought-provoking. Last term she was worried that she wasn't as good as a couple of her friends at numbers, and she thought that maybe she wasn't as smart. I showed her that she was excellent at reading and creative projects, and she was always getting stars and stickers from the teachers for helping her class mates. She is bubbly and always eager to take part. And she shows genuine compassion when a friend is sad, or has been hurt in some way. What I've done is to make numbers fun, so we are always counting this, and figuring out how many of that etc. Without knowing anything scientific about how intelligence is measured, as a parent I've always believed that, as well as encouraging every child's inherent intelligence, personality and character are of utmost importance in getting a balanced education that can see you through life. Not everyone agrees, but the article has fired up my natural curiosity to find out more.

Aerial Bold - the satellite imagery font
Benedikt Gross (a data visualisation designer) and Joey Lee ( a geographer) are creating a typeface based on satellite images of buildings. So far, they've scanned images in Germany, Paris, Switzerland, Denmark, Turkey, California and New York. They explain more on their (successful) Kickstarter page.
