I recently stayed at the riviera palm desert my first Starwood experience and I have to say it's the worst hotel experience I have ever had in my life! 1. Wine glasses and wine opener took over 24 hours to get to our room, with over 8 calls to the staff requesting. Instead We had to go to the restaurant and be charged extra corkage fee for using their glasses. 2. Service by the pool never showed up. The front office said they would send someone to take our order and after calling 3 times and over 2 hours later on the 4th call they said they could no longer service that specific pool. 3. We ended up at the main pool where the bar was open, only to have another 1 hour go by after we placed our order to get drinks, then another 45 minutes following to get our appetizers. 4. The rooms upon checkin were filthy and disgusting. Stains on all the tables and consoles.. Dust everywhere. I had to call and request disinfectant and towels to wipe the place down myself.. And even that too. 2 calls and an hour wait. 5. Our safe was in operable in all 4 rooms that we booked. Request to fix the safe also took 3 calls and next day service. 6. Spa, we paid premium spa prices to attend their spa, for the staff to ask all (11) of us to share lockers. The spa service is just as bad as the introduction of the spa from the staff. It's unbelievable everything we were experiencing.. I felt we were trapped in the twilight zone of hotels. 7. After 8pm the staff is missing. NO ONE is available to reach via phone.. NO ONE! It's absolutely crazy to have a hotel as big as that one have NO ONE answering calls from guests. Needless to say room service obviously was not available as well. 8.All in all this hotel needs a lot of work. I know you guys just took it over, but since November is more than enough time to get the staff in order since it is now late January. 9. Condition of the hotel, despicable, everything looks good from far away but once you step up to t, everything is old and corroded.windows and patio doors are about to fall apart when you try to open. Bathrooms could be taken as a bathroom in a motel 6. The property has so much potential, but over $200/night .. We should not be experiencing potential. At this point the hotel does not even warrant even free nights stays let alone paid nights stays. This hotel is Not worth anyone's time. If I could give it negative stars.. They would recieve the maximum amount possible. We booked this hotel to stay the weekend to celebrate 2 40th birthday parties and over 20 years of friendship with friends.. And it was an embarrassing experience to say the least. I don't think I would consider Starwood hotels in the future if this is representative of the type of service Starwood hotels could possibly provide.

Overall, had a good stay. They have a really large pool with lots of outdoor lounging space. The decor is swanky and the clientele on the fun/young side. I do agree that the valet and check-in line can be sped up a lot.

Absolutely loved my bartender Melissa! She was extremely knowledgeable about the local gastronomy. Also had a great experience at the spa. Robert, the spa director, was able to accommodate all of my last minute requests.

What a dump! The pictures on the website are photoshoped to the extreme. I expected a high rise, and got a beat up 1950s MOTEL trying to live out its glory days by who stayed here about half a century ago. They put pictures of the outside of the lobby, but NOT the actual outside of the buildings where the rooms are. If they did, U would see why.

High class with a friendly vibe, this is a Palm Springs mainstay. The pool is fantastic, lots of nooks and crannies to sit and lounge. The drinks are pricey but delicious, and there's a good menu of items they will bring to you poolside. The hotel decor is artsy and glamorous. I read it has changed ownership recently and there are further renovations planned.

A new Starwood property, the Riverwalk lobby is a bit like the W, but the rooms are very much traditional classy. I didn't stay long enough to enjoy the many amenities offered, but the staff was very friendly and the experience was very pleasant.

I booked a room in advance and had to cancel it. I cancelled the room 27 days in advance. The hotel charged me for the room. 8 voice mail messages to accounting, 1 message with the general manager who was going to talk to accounting and no return calls. As of today, no calls back and no refund. Not a very professional operation. I will file a dispute with my credit card company. I have both the confirmation email and the cancellation confirmation email. I tried emailing the general manager from the email listed on their website contact page and it is an invalid email.

Room was located on the second floor and was great! The decor was pleasant, bathroom really nice and just what I needed. Stand alone tub pretty cool as well. Lighting could have been a little better in the bathroom but overall nice room.
