Many people associate palliative (PAL-lee-uh-tiv) care with end-of-life hospice care, but palliative care is offered at any stage of disease and can supplement curative treatment. Palliative care provides pain relief, comfort and improved quality of life for people of all ages with serious, chronic or life-threatening illnesses including cancer, kidney failure, congestive heart failure, Alzheimer’s and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
