Thursday’s referendum marks a pivotal moment in this country’s history – a moment of choosing between Brexit and continued membership of the European Union.

Totally. Politics seems so changed over the last 50 years, somehow more inward looking than intrepid and ground breaking.

Perhaps that is a sign of the prime need for political powers to maintain that power at all costs and govern the country as a secondary issue.

Any way we some how managed to have opposing views without slagging each other off, calling names or using bad language - i think that's a score for the Internet ;-)

Happy to chat anytime.

The Eu isn't what the UK agreed to join in 1973. This has some good arguments to leave.

On balance although it will create a period of uncertainty and possibly a lot of hard work and worry for many people , politicians and businesses I think we will be better off out of the EU. It isn't what we signed up to originally and a federated Europe is even further away from a common market.

All the evidence seems to show the EU is a corrupt, gravy train for the people who work within it and somewhat similar for the poorer countries who join, even though they don't seem to heed the lessons of Greece, Ireland , Spain, Portugal etc. Money for "nothing" is a fantasy and building infra structure projects with borrowed money isn't the pathway to success or a fruitful future.

It seems to me that the EU's approach doesn't work and only really benefits an often already wealthy few. whilst setting rules and regulations that have taken little account of the UK needs and future.

Without the EU we just might benefit from the openings for UK based manufacturing to fill the gap potentially left by not importing from the EU, out farmers might be growing food rather than oil seed rape for bio fuel, our fishery industry might be resurrected

Our home grown infrastructure might benefit from the £182 billion a year we pay to the EU. We just might regain control of our justice system and our borders.

None of this will be instant or easy but the remain campaign isn't selling any rosy future to me for staying in the EU, they seem to be operating on spreading the fear of "what if" and a misguided belief we have more influence in than out - Camerons failed efforts to gain reform promises from the EU show that they have no intention of changing anything (not in the interests of individual countries) and we have no way to influence them at all.

If the Eu countries were worried that we may pull out and cared much they would have been willing to make some firm compromise. Compromise is what politics is about something the Eu seems to know little about.

 Just my opinion.

Introduction
Born Scunthorpe 1949 - Went to Scunthorpe Grammar school but didn't do any better than I needed to to join the RAF as an electronics engineer. Left 12 years later married. Moved into the computer world until 1995 when I decided to become a teacher, Ah all those career interviews where they said I wouldn't do any good! :-)

Gained a hons degree in Design and Technology and became a teacher. Elevated myself to head of department at Boston Grammar School but lost my sense of humor so retired at 60.

Now enjoying life to the full.

I make things, I take photographs, do a little painting and make jewellery.

I have 2 children and 4 grand children  (Enough Enough!)
