New book from Dr Ted Zeff (info below) features my essay "Sensitivity in the Lion's Den" in a chapter titled "Unique Challenges of Highly Sensitive Men". I'm very pleased to have had the opportunity to contribute to this important work.

My book Iron Man Family Outing has been listed as one of four books in the "Masculinity" category on the Open Deep and True Gift Guide and Reading List posted by Tom Kelley last week. Quite pleased to see my book recommended alongside popular and esteemed works on the subject of masculinity from Robert Bly, David Deida, and Robert Moore.

If you create an anonymous way for men from around the world to speak their personal truth about what they really want, for themselves and the world, you wind up with a deep look into the masculine heart.

My debut post on the new HuffPost UK Men site is "What If He Cries?".
Men with a history of having their emotions controlled and shut down by others typically have a pretty strong innate sense of when someone is approaching them with that intent, and they will close down quickly in response....

New reader review of my first book: "His stunning imagery will shake your assumptions about the male psyche. As a female therapist, I often refer the book to male clients and the women who love them."

My impromptu conversation (via Twitter) on Thanksgiving with Dan Bolton, a psychotherapist who specializes in working with men, inspired him to write a post about some of the issues and resistances encountered by those of us attempting to bring focus and attention to unique aspects of the male experience.

Exploring men's issues, masculine psychology, and recovery from abuse via poetry, essay, and art
Introduction

I am the author of Iron Man Family Outing: Poems about Transition into a More Conscious Manhood, a book widely used in the United States and internationally by therapists, counselors, and men's groups as an aid in the exploration of masculine psychology and men's issues, and as a resource for men who grew up in dysfunctional, abusive, or neglectful family systems.

I've been writing for most of my life and exploring the use of creative expression, dreamwork, personal mythology, and listening to the body as tools for self-healing since 1989. I regularly post poetry, short essays, and other writing at my blog, poetry, dreams, and the body. My second book, Scapegoat’s Cross: Poems about Finding and Reclaiming the Lost Man Within, is awaiting publication.

In addition to my ongoing activities as a writer, I've been working in the information technology field for over 25 years as a software engineer/designer/developer, systems analyst, business analyst, and consultant for numerous organizations in both the public and private sector. I live in Austin, Texas.
