Well the week started great when I was invited to Alpha Beta Education Centres ‪#‎ScienceFair2016‬ to encourage the students to pursue careers in Science, Technology,Engineering and Mathematics. It was another amazing and fun session. I shared my journey, my success, failures and challenges. I also demoed an app that I built that teaches you to speak Twi. I had great questions from the children and they were just a fun and engaging audience. I also got to rep Vlisco and taught them that you can pursue a career in STEM and still be stylish and fashionable

We started our ‪#‎TechNeedsGirls‬ Roadshow last year. This year we rebranded as ‪#‎StylewithCode‬. We registered women studying STEM in the university in 8 regions into our Mentor Program. Our mentors and volunteers are the real heroes in our story.

We want to celebrate our mentors and volunteers and women studying STEM. We also want to ceebrate all our supporters on Facebook. We have the Mentors Day Out. We start of with a networking event on June 17th at Marvel Mini Golf in Dzorwulu. As you know yor network is your networth. This promises to be an exciting night. We are bringing women and men in STEM to connect with the who is who in Ghana. We have a Vlisco Fashion Show with support from Maybelline Cosmetics, netwokirng , mingling and a raffle with exciting prizes to be won. This networking event is FREE.

We then have special training session for our mentor on June 18th.There will be training on etiquette and customer relations, Python and Ruby on rails and hackathon where you win amazing prizes. This is our way to appreciate the men and women who have volunteered their time and skill. This is also to invite women interested in STEM to join the movement

My Vlisco Prêt-a-Couture Journey:

So yesterday was exactly a week since I started my Vlisco Prêt-a-Couture journey. I set off to the Vlisco flagship store in Accra Mall for the fitting and I was excited! Wow! I was amazed at the sight of my outfits. My wrap dress, lily dress and crop jacket turned out well. I quickly tried on the wrap dress and then with the crop jacket which were both a perfect fit, with no adjustments needed. The Pret-A-Couture outfits are all created to be versatile and to mix and match with each other.

So I can wear the wrap dress with or without the crop jacket. Or mix them with other items from the collection. My lily dress is bright and beautiful! Vlisco tailors are indeed true specialists in print placement – look at how they placed the pattern to complement the style of the dress. With just a few minor adjustments to the dress, I’ll be ready to show off my outfits to the world. What do you think? Do you have a favourite? #Vlisco #Vliscotailoring #Visitvliscoaccramall

As the 2016 Vlisco Brand Ambassador I have three main roles. One is to lead the fight against counterfeiting of the one and only Vlisco fabric and how to tell the real from the fake.Next is to inspire women and girls to chase their dream because dreams come true. I will also inspire men and boys! We all need to chase our dreams. My next role is to encourage more women and girls to pursue careers in technology. The Tech Needs Girls movement continues. As the ambassador I hope to continue to break the stereotype that women or girls who study science and technology are geeks, socially awkward and not fashionable. Now I can demonstrate even more that you can study and pursue careers in Technology and still be as stylish as you want to be.

So we are going on the road......

First stop Tamale at UDS Tamale at the auditorium at 2:00pm on the 16th of March and then on the 17th at UDS Navrongo at the Navro Hall from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. Ladies we look forward to engaging with you in Tamale and Navrongo. We will be live tweeting the whole experience with hashtag ‪#‎stylewithcode‬

In 2013, Rasheeda Mandeeya Yehuza and I had this dream to empower more girls to learn to code. We started with 50 girls in Kumasi. Three years later that dream has grown into a mission with a vision that is bringing real change for women and girls. We have impacted over 2065 girls in 5 regions in Ghana and expanded into Burkina Faso. We have been supported by many mentors and volunteers and people like you.We have been overwhelmed by the number of girls who want to be enrolled into the program and the impact. We have daily requests from women who want to learn how to integrate technology into their business and those who want to learn to code. We have a new mission!. We want to build the first girls coding school for women and girls in West Africa. We need your help to make this dream a reality.

This coding school will be one of kind which will teach coding skills, leadership skills, connect students to jobs and internship and teach them design thinking principles to problem solve.

Last year, there were more than 600,000 high-paying tech jobs across the United States that were unfilled, and by 2018, 51 percent of all STEM jobs are projected to be in computer science-related fields. Computer science and data science are not only important for the tech sector, but for so many industries, including transportation, healthcare, education, and financial services--https://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/2016/01/30/computer-science-all
So want to join the movement then donate, share and participate to help empower women/girls to lead and innovate by learning to code.
