Dear Sir or Ma’am:
I am writing this to inform you how I have NO intentions of donating any more blood to Red Cross for a at least the next year due to frustration.
This past weekend, based on a request for donations, I went to the Red Cross site and made an appointment for today, 23 May 2016 in Odenton, MD. I made a 5Pm EST appointment for Double Red. I took time off from work, I filled out the Pre-Registration on-line form/questionnaire, and showed up 15-minutes early to my scheduled appointment.
When I arrived at 4:45PM, I immediately informed the Check-in desk that I had a 5PM appointment for a Double Red at 5PM. At that time, I was told I was not in their system and had to write-in all my information by hand. After checking in and sitting in the waiting area for 20-minutes (now 5:05PM), I was asked to come back and start the questionnaire. After informing “that” individual that I had done all the pre-screening on-line (as I got the email notification that I could do the “Rapid Pass”), I was told that I would have a 40-minute wait as they had given the Double-Red machines to walk-ins ahead of me.
To make a short story even shorter, I walk out because I could not see wasting any more of my time on an organization that could not even help themselves. If this had been the only time I had walked in with an appointment and had an issue, that would be one thing. But this was a repeat issue and I am done taking time off of work (taking personal vacation time off) to help an organization whom cannot even help themselves.
Please do not continue to bother me with request for blood if you cannot even follow your own guidelines into what is expected of those taking personal vacation time off for an organization as dysfunctional as the Red Cross.
Sincerely,
Jason W. Cronin

Did you know that Red Crossers have responded to three times more disasters so far in 2016 than the last three years combined? It's been a busy time for us, which makes this year's Giving Day, coming up in just two days, all the more meaningful. Watch our latest ‪Weather Red Report, and learn how you can help! http://rdcrss.org/1VawYKW ‪#‎help1family‬

Summer can be a busy time of year with family vacations, pool parties and other fun activities. But patients like 6-year-old Joshua Dri, of Cumming, Georgia, don’t get a summer vacation from needing blood: http://rdcrss.org/Jdri #chooseyourday

Give the gift of warmth on #RedCross Giving Day. Help ensure children and their families, affected by disasters big and small, can get a good night’s sleep. A gift of $5 could provide a comforting blanket: http://rdcrss.org/onetoday #help1family

A recent survey of Red Cross blood and platelet donors showed more than 40 percent planned to travel the week before or after Independence Day, an indicator that many eligible donors may be unavailable to give.

Blood donors with all types, especially O negative, A negative and B negative, and platelet donors are urged to schedule an appointment. Those who come to donate from July 2-6 will receive a Red Cross embroidered baseball cap, while supplies last. To make an appointment and for more information, visit redcrossblood.org.
